Fan Xpert 4 GPU temperature

Hi everyone,

so I just bought a ROG Strix 2070 OC for my system. Besides I'm using a Strix Z370-F Gaming Mainboard. I'd really like to control the chassis fans via AI Suite 3 using the GPU temperature. Good thing is, I can see the GPU temperature in AI Suite 3. Bad thing: As soon as I choose the GPU temp as source to control the chassis fans, they won't turn up in speed when the GPU gets hot. The nice yellow dot in Fan Xpert 4 shows me, that my GPU temperature is rising but it also shows me, that the fan speed isn't increasing even though it should, according to the fan curve.

I've heard of one other person having similar problems so I'd like to know if anyone of you is experiencing the same problem. Of course a solution for the problem would also be appreciated 🙂

For your information: I'm using the latest version of AI Suite (Dual Intelligence Processor 5 v 1.06.52) together with the latest BIOS version for my MB and the latest NVIDIA driver for the graphics card.

Best regards!

Came in here in search of the same solution. The question was "how to use gpu temp just like any other temp probe." Not afterburner, not pch, not anything else. Gpu.....I didn't realize afterburner had case can control function?

To answer the OP ... I know that Corsair link offers the function when using their commander pro. I use link anyway for my h150i and I was in the market for a fan controller anyway, so going that route may just work for me after all. I can select gpu temp as an option for the CPU cooler currently (although I wouldn't use it there) but to expand that to all other fans, their controller would be needed. Plus there is all fans are then in one software interface.

MSI AB does not control case/CPU fans. I was simply providing an alternative to using Ai Suite which, according to many, doesn't function as intended. Too many bugs to work out, hence no availability to use the GPU as a source.

MSI to control GPU. Ai to control CPU and case fans linked to PCH. This is how I set up both of my rigs to ensure optimal airflow through the case and to minimize irregular case fan ramp ups due to a rise in GPU or CPU temps. I find the PCH to be the best source for linking case fans, that's all.

Again, this is just a suggestion. If you don't like it, you're not obligated to use it unless you're from a nation governed by fundamentally fanatic believers. The other suggestion (from REDDIT) was to install GPU Tweak II if you haven't already, to see if Ai Suite allows you to use the GPU as a source. Give it a go. If it doesn't work it's because Ai is bugged and needs to be reworked. That is an issue which you may need to discuss with ASUS devs as I have no concise answer for you.
I'd like to deploy my troops in her country.

So I ended up here looking on how to fix this annoying bug.

Sad to see that this still persists 3 years later with newest hardware (Maximus XIII Hero) and latest version of AI suite 3. So Asus does not seem to care about fixing this bug...

With a M12A board, I tried to use app Argus Monitor ( highly recommended ) to run CHA_FAN2 & 3 from GPU sensors on a 3080ti. Initially, It says all seven ports are controllable, but the third "fan config" page says "not controllable" for CHA_FAN 1, 2 qnd 3 ( and a fourth port I can't read ). Argotronic says it is what it is.

When I contacted Asus Support, they still claim Fan XPert will do it. So IS there an answer? Do I have to buy a separate fan contoller board?

When I had a Asus 2080ti OC in that rig, the separate fan ports on the front of the GPU were supposed to work via GPUT, but that never worked either.

I have been experiencing this crash numerous times. It seems to occur when launching Call Of Duty Cold War.

Fan curve is totally not adhering to fan curve with AI Suite 3 Fan Expert 4. I made custom curves and saved the profile. This still occurs with presets too. This is adding unnecessary heat to the system. I have .png file to upload, which the uploader says is okay, but will not let me upload - says it is an invalid file. ???

I need this to work. It was the whole reason I bought this MB - Maximus XIII Hero - so I could eliminate multiple added pieces of hardware and have one functional piece of equipment. This is not working out too well...

Edit: the current fan speed is well below the curve for speed and the temps are climbing instead of dropping. It is totally opposite of how it is supposed to work

So, I play another Warzone game and then I pop off. This is what the curve is doing (blue dot). The CPU package has decreased in temp, but the CPU temp the curve tracks is still high, and should have the fans running at 100%. The blue dot is like 60%.

I run an EK waterblock on both the CPU and GPU. The fan system is controlling pump and rad fans, as well as case fans. It seems to be good most of the time, but then it drops out like this. Sometimes it happens during game and then things really go sideways...

Why does the AI drop the fan speeds? It should hold them better until the temps stabilize, or better yet, reach the temps that should allow the fan speeds to decrease. The lag in the fans seem to be pre sensor, not post sensor.

it is still doing it... crashing and losing the control on the fans. I WANT PERFORMANCE, NOT QUIET!

What can I do here? I uninstalled AI Suite 3 and resinstalled. It is still a mess.

I figured out the fan issue with AI Suite 3... it was actually quite easy. I uninstalled it. Went into the UEFI and made the curve there for each fan. And enabled the AI Overclocking... because I'm lazy. Works like a charm now, and has not lost the fan settings.
