Error code 2: File Not Found - AsIO3.sys!!

Lmnsour
Level 8
Rog Strix Z690 D4 board.

I just updated from Windows 10 to 11 and its a fresh install. Can't run Armory Crate or install AsusAI suite due to no AsIO3.sys file installed. Armory crate installs but doesn't launch. AISuite won't install at all.

Troubleshooting:

-All devices in device manager are installed.

-I tried every step listed in my google searches with no help (most help articles are for Error Code 5).

Questions:

-How do I manually install the AsIO3 drivers?

-Is there something I may have disabled / need to enable in Bios?

If you uninstall Kaspersky, you can activate this option in Windows and you will see that it works fine. There must be something else in Kaspersky that is creating this problem. Anyway it's good to know that more people who are experiencing this also have Kaspersky installed and it must be something related to a windows update or a kaspersky update that is causing this conflict.

Before commenting here I had performed the test to remove Kaspersky and it worked again, another important detail is that any change must always restart Windows to activate the change.

Thanks for the additional information. Considering the number of people posting here who have this problem and use Kaspersky, I think it's safe the problem is really some incompatibility between Windows and Kaspersky that causes the Asus software not to work as intended.

Since I apparently did not receive any updates to Windows recently, I suspect that the problem is whatever update Kaspersky pushed on June 1 and/or 2. Like you said in another post, it seems we only need to wait until Kaspersky fixes this issue.

Read this article from the Kaspersky technical team, the date is a few days before the problem started:
https://support.kaspersky.com/us/common/safemoney/13713#block1

I understood that Kaspersky recommends that you disable virtualization in Windows security in this text they ask you to run this command in windows 10 and 11 at the command prompt in administrative mode: "bcdedit /set hypervisorlaunchtype off"

I didn't get to run it, but it should be the same thing as deactivating it through the configuration screen.

If so, then we are guaranteeing control by Kaspersky regardless of the problem with ASUS is the right thing to do for anyone using Kaspersky.

I uninstalled Kaspersky and restore Memory Integrity to On, but it didnt worked for me, so i decided to download OpenRGB to controll my leds 😞

It seems like Kaspersky and Windows 11 fighting over dominance and causing issue with the weak Asus app.

Have you tried uninstalling it? Problem is gone?

Before uninstalling windows i tried pausing kaspersky prorection and problem persisted..

I did this before, I formatted my SSD and started a clean install of Windows 11, then I installed the ASUS Armory Crate program and Asus Aura Creator and also had to update all the drivers for my memory to be listed again in Aura Creator and everything worked again on my PC, but after I installed Kaspersky and restarted computer the Error Code 2 reappeared and the AURA stopped again.

I uninstalled Kaspersky and in my case it worked again, I installed Kaspersky and it stopped working again. Just by turning off Memory Virtualization in Windows everything works again, there is no point in pausing Kaspersky protection, you need to uninstall it in order to activate Windows memory virtualization and everything works again, but without Kaspersky. At least in my case it worked that way.

Now I have Kaspersky activated and using memory virtualization and I left it disabled in Windows, at least that's how it's working. I'm going to let some time pass now and hope they fix this problem, as this should cause other inconveniences and at some point someone should correct it. I believe that in a month everything should normalize again.

Got it, then you are the second user i know who is reporting the same:

https://forum.kaspersky.com/topic/kaspersky-premium-blocking-asus-armoury-create-again-34288/

What i found ironic is finding everyone here is using kaspersky apparently...

Yeah since the beginning Kaspersky always known with it's aggressive protection , like i said clearly Kaspersky and windows fighting over control .

confirmed, I have KIS as well. But everything works fine with memory virtualization set to OFF.
