Default audio device keeps switching to Asus Xonar SE

Hi!

I'm a new owner of Asus Xonar SE add-on audio card, but I'm already disappointed. Asus customer support denies that their driver would be the culprit, but I'm not sure about this. The issue is following:

If I have either 'headphones' or 'SPIDF' enabled in audio device settings of Windows, both options belonging to the Xonar SE card, every time when I reboot my computer the default device is the 'headphones', while I'd like to keep my external DAC as the default device. If I disable only 'headphones' but not the 'SPDIF', then the default will be the latter on every boot. If you idle awhile on desktop or some audio related change occur, the default device might switch to the Xonar SE in this case too. Naturally, I don't want this to happen, but what can I do other than keeping the Xonar SE options disabled when I'm not using them - thankfully they do not seem to re-enable by their own. I tried to uninstall the driver software available from Asus, but the same still occurs.

Some relevant system information:

OS: Windows 11, build 22631.3737

Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 Gaming X, BIOS FB1

Xonar SE: Driver version 10.0.01.10 (the download page also says 1.02 in the description)

Additional note: The control panel that comes with the driver looks very dated. I cannot believe Asus offers something like this with a product that is still widely sold. I wish they would offer better up to date support for their audio devices.

...

Thanks for any advices in advance!
