Can't get Realtek drivers to install (error included)

I uninstalled my Creative sound card from my Maximus Gene VI because I went Crossfire and needed the slot. After uninstalling all Creative drivers and software, I keep getting an error when trying to install the Realtek drivers for the motherboard:

Is the on-board audio enabled in BIOS?

Advanced menu > On-board Devices

Hi, thanks for replying.

i double checked, and i do have all the onboard audio options enabled in BIOS.

I forgot to mention that I have the Asus ROG Front Panel installed also, and the front panel drivers are fine, but neither the Realtek driver on the Front Panel disk or the motherboard disk are installing.

Also, I do have some basic audio functionality from the motherboard. I have my monitor connected to it and am getting sound.

Have you tried downloading the driver from the Asus support site? I will be the latest and will be in another form that may install more easily.

Does 'Realtek High Definition Audio' show in windows device manager under sound controllers? Is it enabled or disabled in Device Manager? It may appear with an exclamation point or it may be an 'unknown device'. Right click and select 'update driver software', then point to the downloaded or disk version of the driver.

If the Realtek does not show up in device manager, does the Creative card still show? You may have to remove it from the registry if uninstalling didn't get it. That may clear the way for plug and play to see the Realtek.

Well, my r9 290's started giving constant black screen crashes, so I had to remove them and go back to the r9 270x that I was using previously, which gave room to reinstall the Creative card. Everything is working fine again, and I'm in the RMA process for the 290's. I'm just going to go with a single 780 ti when I get the refund and keep the creative card installed.
