AsusFanControlService constantly accesses external HDD, preventing spindown

Anytime the AsusFanControlService is running it prevents my external HDD from spinning down, creating unnecessary noise. Is there any way to prevent it from constantly accessing the drive?

GPU Tweak II sometimes fails and fans get completely turned off!
