Err, is this legit? Doesn't look like it.

I opened it sandboxed and nothing happened. Opens and closes a window for 0.1ms. Pretty sure this is some sort of keylogger or trojan?

Yes that's how it works.

It's an un-changed file, just hosted on my Dropbox.

I have pretty much given up at this point. I have uninstalled, wiped with REVO and CCleaner. I have started from the earlier versions and upgraded that way. I hae followed the step by steps from Asus on at least 4 different posts and simply put, nothing works.

1. The BIOS/firmware version for your hardware.
--- Asus ROG Extreme VI MB- Latest 1701 or 2, whatever is the latest one.
2. The AURA SYNC products you own and any other 3rd-party lighting software.
-- I have 4 Asus ROG addressible LED Strips and my Phanteks Aura capable case plugged into one of the 12v ports.
3. If a power cycle has made any difference. (Shutdown, power off, unplug power cable for a minute)
-- I have powered down, unplugged both the power cord and even unplugged he LED headers from the board for 10 minutes.
4. If you have tried reinstalling Aura or Windows already.
- I did install Aura multiple time and when I installed WIndows 10 Pro last time, it worked right up until the first time Windows updated then bleah.
5. Do you have Aura for Graphics Cards installed also. (Please uninstall)
-- Nope.
6. Windows Edition, Version, and OS build.
- Win 10 Pro -1903 18362.207
7. If the same issue was present in the previous version(s).
-- Yes since about 1.07.38
8. State clearly the issue(s) you are experiencing.
-Launch windows. Attempt to launch Aura (or live dash) running as administrator and simply wait for about 3 minutes then get a window saying that the program could not be opened.
Please Include a screenshot of the Aura UI, and any other pictures if applicable.
- Can't load a picture cause the window comes up for about a second and is gone.

The last time I had this issue I was able to use Revo to remove the LIghting service, then Lighting controller Aura, run cc-cleaner. Shut down computer for 5 minutes power and AC cord out. Just to make sure everything is gone, use the aura removal tool. Then go back and make sure no lighting service is in task manager or under Program Files (X86). In reinstalling I have started with much ealier version like 1.03.2 and That will come up with no issues. I can't do anything with it but it opens. Then install the new Aura over it. I have tried 1.7.60 1.7.55 , 1.7.53, 1.7.48 and all the way down to 1.7.36 Nothing works. Three hours of my life gone.

For the record I have Corsair Link and logitech gaming but for the last few installs i uninstalled those. Nope. Still nothing working. Live Dash has NEVER worked beyond the first time I installed it when I first got the motherboard. that lasted 2 weeks and it stopped reporting. I use one 5v and one 12v plug on the MB. There was a time it all worked. Nope not any longer.

Anyone have links to Asus suggestion of using a much older version to start off with then upgrade ? I'm about to reinstall windows but that is an all day procees.

RGB Lights on the GPU turned off and wasn't being detected by Aura software
GPU: ROG STRIX-RX480-O8G-GAMING

This all happened when I installed Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.7.1.
Aura and GPU Tweak 2 freak out and don't wanna work anymore with the GPU.

Reverted back to old drivers and it works. Just wanna know if there will be an update to those 2 things

Why I cannot set my MOBO led color to static white? The default white code 255-255-255 is blue!

I had this problem too (with 1903 update), and after a LONG session of try and error I was able to make it work. Here's what I did:

  • First download RevoUninstaller, you can use the portable version
  • Launch the RevoUninstaller and go to options and check "show system components"
  • Uninstall all Asus Aura software components, including Kingtson, Galaxy, Patriot, Corsair aura related. For most of them there are two options, one with the blue box icon and the other with blue old computer icon, choose the blue older computer icon.
  • Uninstall the ENE software too
  • Uninstall the LiveDash
  • After uninstall all software, go to Windows services (type services on the taskbar) and check if Asus COM services still exists. If they do, stop them and kill the process on the task manager.
  • Run CMD as administrator and execute the following commands "sc delete asComSvc" and "sc delete asHmComSvc" (may not exist).
  • Delete these following folders if exists: "C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS", "C:\Program Files (x86)\LightingService", "C:\Program Files (x86)\ENE", "C:\Program Files\ASUS", "C:\Program Files\ENE"
  • This step is optional, but I also ran the Ccleaner to clear registry.
  • Check if there are .xml files on root of C: drive. Open those files and check if they say Asus Aura (or something similar) at the top. If they do, delete them.
  • Restart the PC
  • Install Aura

After all that I think you have a good chance to work =). I think the main issue for this problem rely on the Asus COM services and previous LightningService profiles that may cause Aura to not work properly.

I could finally make it work with this step by step BUT I had to install version 1.06.17
Also I must clarify that if I want to make use of this version without having the AuraSync Service issue again, I cannot install LiveDash (Which REALLY REALLY S*CKS).
ASUS Products: Maximus X Formula - RT-AC87U/AC88U/AX86U

Okay so while AURA has always been buggy, it did at least run on my system until now. The day before yesterday, MS released three updates, one of which was a security update to mitigate a RAD loophole found by Russian hackers, so I'd say it's a very important update. But after installing all three updates, which I'll provide a screenshot of, AURA stopped working immediately. I noticed because my DRAM was blinking orange. I tried launching it but got the error "your administrator has blocked this program."

This was strange seeing as I'm the admin of my system and my network. So I did what anyone with experience would do. I wiped all traces of AURA and installed the latest version. But now it just crashes with a general error saying "AURA.exe closed unexpectedly." Restarting the "lightingcontrol" service does nothing. I troubleshooted for about an hour and a half but NOTHING I do will get it running now, on a system where it ran perfectly before. The only thing I haven't done is uninstalling the updates, because I don't feel that is a solution I can live with.

So far, I have yet to hear if others are having this same issue. I really need to find out if this is isolated, because if it is, I will continue to troubleshoot because I'll know it's a bug related to what's on my own system and not a bug in the code of AURA or Windows updates. Perhaps AURA needs updated for the new security update, which I read did affect how windows interacts with services. This needs to be checked. Here are the updates that broke AURA for me.

I tried to create a thread about this but I kept getting the "access denied" error. So all I can do is post it here.
