Our test system without iCUE installed - 2 to 3% CPU usage.

Any update on the G.Skill Trident Z RGB issues?

I have never had icue installed. I only use Aura Sync, and only to control RGB on my RAM, MB, and addressable headers.

This thread has a sticky to help solve the AURA problem, or problems. What I don't is all the people who take the time to get onto the ROG/ASUS forum and bad mouth the product, trolls everywhere.

Everything in life has to be tried first, some are successful, others aren't. I get people spending uber dollars for a quality product and expecting things to work, but that is life sometimes. If you don't like the product, go use another. I know ASUS will come through.

Hi,
I have issue with Aura Lightning service.
I have issue that all games are locked at 139FPS. Only way to get higher is to disable Vsync but tearing is horrible then.
Monitor is ASUS PG279Q and GPU is ASUS STRIX GTX 1080Ti. I do use MSI Afterburner to overclock GPU and RTSS (Riva Tuner Statistic Server) to show data in OSD.
I'n not using any limiters or what so ever and Nvidia control panel is at it's default settings; G-sync set to "Enable G-sync for windowed and full screen mode", Vsync is on at the 3D settings, monitor technology is set to G-sync and preferred refresh rate is set to highest available.
I've been using these settings since I got the monitor and everything worked fine at 144fps until this autumn. I can't tell excactly when this lockdown happened.
I've tried to fix this by testing older drivers starting from 397.93 and using DDU when uninstalling old drivers but no go.
I'm always using DDU to remove old drivers before installing new one.
Interesting part here is that after a fresh install of new drivers the FPS is where it should be, at 144. When I do a boot it all comes back and FPS is again stuck at 139.
Yesterday I did flash my bios and after that flash when I booted my computer the FPS reading was 144 again but after a shut down and then put PC back on the reading is back at 139.
I've used CCleaner to clean registry and everything unnecessary trash from PC.
PC is working fine except this.
I have latest 1809 Windows 10 build and all other drivers are up to date.
CPU is 8700K and motherboard is Asus Z370-F with latest bios.

Finally after few days with nvidia personal support I've managed to solve the issue. It was caused by Aura Lightning service.
I have this whole conversation with nvidia support guy. Do you want me to send it to you?

Are you saying that when Aura Lighting service is running in the background, refresh rate changes to 139Hz, and then back to 144Hz if you end the task?
Screenshots possible to compare the 2?

Yes, exactly.
This was already confimerd during weekend gaming sessions. I tried several different startup settings with and without Asus Aura lightning service, re-installing nvidia drivers with various versions, disabled all background programs which are not crucial in order to keep PC running etc, etc...
This was quite surprise for me too, I've never heard anything like this before.
At the moment I have Asus Aura lightning service disabled and I can play all games with FPS locked to 144 using default Nvidia Control Panel settings.
I'll link screenshots later when I get back to home from work.

Please PM me the conversation with Nvidia support, any more info or screenshots would be helpful. Thanks.

strix b250f, latest windows 10 build, no rgb hardware except motherboard, latest bios 1207.

CPU usage sometimes spikes close to 15% causing massive slow downs when gaming. It would get stuck around 15 % cpu usage in previous versions but it would only happen once in a while and I would simply end task the lighting service and restart aura sync. But with the latest two versions the problem has become way more severe. Happens way too often now. It is now guaranteed to happen every single time I game. Not only that....but ending lighting service and restarting aura sync no longer makes any difference. Spikes will happen just as often, even after a reboot. It happens so often now that I have to totally disable aura sync in the bios to game without hitching. I loved to use smart mode so I am very disappointed to no longer have the feature.

Doesn't matter what power settings I use. optmized bios defaults, reinstalling drivers, nothing helps. The latest version of aura sync seems to be the worst yet for my board.

I believe this started getting severe for me with version 1.06.95. Should I go back to version 1.06.17?

What is your average for CPU usage %? (Short pikes are normal especially when you apply new effects)
Regarding massive slow downs when gaming, what are your system specs?
Is the issue resolved completely when you disable Aura from the UEFI?
Are you on the latest version of UEFI BIOS?
Have you tried a power cycle? (unplug at the wall for a minute).
Did you tried to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows?

Aura sync averages 1-3% normally when not spiking.
I don't do much on pc except game so when idle my total cpu is pretty much 0-3% I play titanfall 2, bfv, star wars battlefront 2, witcher 3. Notice hitching in all of them, but most noticeable in bfv by far. I avg about 90 fps in bfv with mixed settings.

my system is i7 7700k and nvidia 1070.
Using latest version bios 1207.
I have tried fresh copy of windows.
Did just recently unplug my pc, not for testing purposes but to move to another room Doesn't seem to have made a diff.

I should note that the spikes are happening during gaming, not when I'm changing settings. Also should note in previous versions the lighting service never spiked. It would jump to around 13-15% and stay there hitching the game, or freeze, until I ended the task. With these latest two versions it took me a while to realize it was aura sync causing the hitching Because now besides getting stuck at the high cpu usage once in a blue. It is now also frequently spiking to that amount but then immediately going back down. So at first I did not thinkg aura sync was causing the issue. I had to closely monitor processes till I realized it was indeed aura sync the culprit.

And as I said disabling it in bios stops my games from hitching which confirms this.
