Aura software won't open.

Hello!

Built a system with the new Maximus IX and a 1080 Strix. I was able to run Aura just fine when I first completed my build. Got my settings good to go, and that's it. After doing some overclocking, I happened to look down at my PC and saw that my Auras weren't right. So I opened the Aura software with administrator permissions, a small application window would open and close within half a second, and that's it. Aura doesn't show up in my taskbar, but it's showing up in my background applications.

I killed all Aura-related programs that are running in the background, and I get this Doctor Dump report after doing so:

WARNING: Following frames may be wrong.
aura+0x1059c
aura+0x64906
aura+0x5f406

Manufacturer Manufacturer01
Application name AURA for X99 series
Application version 1.3.13.0
Problem state New
Problem 241209
Dump group 650059

The odd thing about that error is that I'm not using an X99, I'm on a Z270. And I'm sure I installed the correct Aura software since it was under my utilities downloads after I registered my Maximus online. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

A little help please?

Edit: I weird coincidence maybe, but I noticed that my motherboard lights have matched up perfectly to the static lighting I had set for my Corsair H115i.

What version of the AURA software did you install?

V1.04.09

Weirdly enough, I think I fixed my issue. As mentioned in an edit in my original post, I noticed that my MOBO made itself match the LED color of my Corsair H115i. On a hunch, I set my H115i back to defaults, making its LED back to white. My MOBO's lighting went off for a second after doing this, and went back to rainbow settings that I had initially set up for it before it started acting weird. I then tried the Aura software again, and it finally worked. I'm not sure how this happened, or if it's just a coincidence.

The Aura software on my computer will not open either. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling every version of the software, and all it does is a small window pops up and off so quick that I cannot see it. It looks like a small command prompt window, not the aura window.

Aura used to run ok for me before, don't know what the problem is. I do have corsair link installed, but it's not running.

Anyone have any ideas?

I have a brand new ROG Strix 270E and have the same issues...I've narrowed it down to using any of the advanced functions, particularly synchronized music strobe. If you want to keep fussing with your lights, definitely DO NOT USE THE MUSIC FUNCTION. I'm not sure Rainbow or whatever will work long term, I need more time to troubleshoot.

After it crashes, upon trying to restart the service will start eating up to 25% CPU. However, I am still able to change the LED on my Asus 1070 and that works fine.

I also have Corsair Link and tried to use a default profile with the light changed back to white but that had no effect.

The only way to repair it is to uninstall it and reinstall it. [EDIT!} I just tried that and a normal restart won't work. You need to power off completely. In fact just to be on the safe side I turned off the PSU. Guess what I discovered? This board was somehow getting a trickle of power! I had to UNPLUG THE POWER CABLE. Or maybe the capacitors are just big, and it wasn't getting power after all. When you restart the LED should stop being stuck, if it's not back to rainbow changes, it hasn't cleared the settings out of BIOS.

Thank you very much for your reply! I thought I was going crazy. Sure enough, I powered down computer, took power cable out, repowered everything, reinstalled aura latest version, and voila! It works!

Hopefully anyone else having this issue will see this.

thanks again!

Hi, I also have Z270E and I also had issue with Aura app. First 2 days it works fine, but last 2 days I had problem with it. AsRogAuraService consume 30% of my CPU and Aura not working. Only power off and turn off the PSU power switch helped, but only on short time. Aura was working few hours and then LEDs froze or turned off.
But today I found new version of Aura - V1.04.21 (from 19.01.2017)and it seem to work properly.

Here is link: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-STRIX-Z270E-GAMING/HelpDesk_Download/
You can find it under Win7/8.1 64bit (under Win10 not, but work also on win10)

I hope this solve the issue for everyone.

Same here. This happened after installing the G.Skill Trident Z RGB software (which I was disappointed to find it was basically a clone of Aura). Even after uninstalling the G.Skill software, the issue persists.
