AsusLiveService.exe crashing

martin___
Level 8
Hello! After recent update of Armoury Crate, it is showing error that some service is not working after opening Armoury Crate. I was able to trace it and it seems that AsusLiveService.exe is crashing. I have tried to reinstall all software and drivers from asus.
+ I am not sure if it's related but since reinstall of Armoury Crate, I am not able to turn on ECO mode while it's connected to USB C external dock with monitor. Before it was working just fine, no issues.

Here are logs from event viewer and crashdump:

No solution, sadly. only a "workaround"...

I have just disabled "ROG Live Service" on the list of services for now.

If it is not running, it is not crashing. 😄

The biggest problem for me was that each time it crashed, RGB on all my devices would blink and this was very annoying.

I assume that the service was re-detecting all the devices and that caused RGB to re-apply.

With the service disabled, all the RGB settings I applied before still work, apply with no issue when the computer boots, and RGB does not blink anymore.

However, Armoury Crate is partially broken now, as expected, it does not detect any of my devices, so I cannot change any device settings anymore.

To change something I can start the service again, though, change what I need and stop it back, so it would not be able to crash.

That works for me, as I do not change settings often.

Hopefully, this will be completely fixed in the next Armoury Crate update...

Me too i have the same problem !!!! 😞 how u fix the problem please ?

This might be helpful for someone. I have looked into issues involving ucrtbase.dll file not just armoury crate related but in general what is the file and what program installed it and what can go wrong. I found out that this file is normally installed along with Windows SDK (software development kit). It could also be installed with visual studio.

The reason I decided to research this, is that I had another crashing program that involved the module ucrtbase.dll. And I did at one time have Windows SDK and Visual Studio installed on my pc. I was able to solve the crashes I was seeing by reinstalling Windows SDK and Visual Studio and then uninstalling them. I used the same installer version that I had used before and rebooted the system a couple times and let the .NET optimizer run and finish before uninstalling the Windows SDK and Visual Studio. When these two programs are uninstalled there may be some pieces that remain on the system. In my case I must have removed something I shouldn't have. Anyway, its all good now. HTH.

sadly didnt have windows sdk nor visual studio installed and it's still crashing for me - even did a completely fresh windows 11 reinstall with everything latest and updated from the asus driver's website
