AsusLiveService.exe crashing

martin___
Level 8
Hello! After recent update of Armoury Crate, it is showing error that some service is not working after opening Armoury Crate. I was able to trace it and it seems that AsusLiveService.exe is crashing. I have tried to reinstall all software and drivers from asus.
+ I am not sure if it's related but since reinstall of Armoury Crate, I am not able to turn on ECO mode while it's connected to USB C external dock with monitor. Before it was working just fine, no issues.

Here are logs from event viewer and crashdump:

Had the same issue with the service crashing with the same exact error on 5.4.8.0, downgraded it to the previous one once 5.4.8.0 was pulled, and had no issue since then, but today Armoury crate automatically updated to 5.4.10.0 and I started having these service crashes again...

I do not have an executable or service running that is named AsusLiveService.exe. Please confirm if that is the right spelling. executables that use the word Live in the name are probably for automatic software downloading and updating. Could just be a firewall/network issue.

It looks like the OP was confused, as the posted log clearly says "C:\Program Files\ASUS\ROG Live Service\ROGLiveService.exe".

I had issues with 2.0.6.0 and the OP had issues with 2.0.4.0.

However, I noticed that "ucrtbase.dll" is mentioned there and, as far as I understand, that file is a part of the Visual C++ Redistributable.

I updated Visual C++ Redistributable to version 14.32.31326.0 today and there have been no crashes of the ROG LIve Service for 6 hours.

Before the Visual C++ Redistributable update and after the Armoury crate update it was crashing like every hour.

If crashes return, I will update this thread, but so far it looks like updating Visual C++ Redistributable has helped.

cool. I wonder why it does not update automatically.

Unfortunately, the crashes returned. 😞

I have had a few already.

The logs look similar to what the OP posted, but the "Fault offset" is "0x0000000000071208".

"Exception code" is still "0xc0000409" and it still refers to ucrtbase.dll and ROGLiveService.exe.

Bogovix, did you reinstall armoury crate after the update of the redistributal? You might want to uninstall it with the AC uninstall tool, then force the system ti run maintenance before reinstalling it. Just a suggestion my friend. And I still think it might be a firewall issue. But I am not sure what the easiest remedy is and I hesitate to make suggestions that might cause someone a headache.

Here's an idea that I think is worth a try. If you are not ready to reinstall Armoury Crate (it takes time I understand). You might want to try resetting the app. When you reset the Armoury Crate App (right click the program shortcut and submenu -More and -App Settings, then in the App Settings there is a reset button. This will cause Armoury Crate to go through its installation / setup steps, but much faster than actually reinstalling. It seems to have some benefit in my opinion as a remedy for little glitches.

I added a second suggestion Bogovix.

I did not try to reinstall it after the redistributable update, but I did after the Armoury crate update.

Here is a summary:

1. I had had Armoury crate 5.3.4.0 installed for months and it worked fine.
2. Version 5.4.8.0 was released and Armoury crate automatically updated to it.
3. Crashes started happening.
4. Version 5.4.8.0 was pulled.
5. I deleted automatically updated Armoury crate 5.4.8.0, using the official uninstaller, and rebooted.
6. I installed Armoury crate 5.3.4.0 back after the reboot and it worked fine.
7. Version 5.4.10.0 was released and Armoury crate automatically updated to it.
8. Crashes started happening again.
9. I deleted automatically updated Armoury crate 5.4.10.0, using the official uninstaller.
10. I installed all the Windows updates that were available to me and rebooted.
11. I installed Armoury crate 5.4.10.0 back after the reboot.
12. Crashes continued.
13. I updated Visual C++ Redistributable to version 14.32.31326.0 and rebooted.
14. Crashes continued.

I do not think that another re-installation will make any difference, because, as far as I know, all the DLL-files get loaded after the application starts, so rebooting would make Armoury crate pick the updated DLLs up, while re-installing would only affect the files of Armoury crate itself, which should already be good after the full re-installation.

As for the firewall, "C:\Program Files\ASUS\ROG Live Service\ROGLiveService.exe" is whitelisted for both incoming and outgoing connections and these are the rules the Armoury crate installer added itself, I did not modify them manually.

Also, Armoury crate 5.3.4.0 worked fine with the same firewall rules, so I doubt that the firewall is to blame here.

I have exactly the same problem! :(:(:( I tried reinstalling, C++ redist, armory offline install, online install...same issue, did you find any solution, Bogovix? (Sorry for my english 😉 )
