Asus Secure Erase SSD

I recently had to add additional storage as my original 250 GB Samsung 850 EVO quickly filled up. I added a 500 GB Samsung 960 Evo m2 drive to my VIII Hero Alpha mobo and did a clean install of windows, drivers and all of my other programs. I originally had all of this on the 850 EVO.
I now want to erase the data on the 850 EVO and was wondering how the secure erase through the ASUS Bios worked or is there a better alternative?
I have yet to reconnect the 850 evo to the mobo since the install on the 960.
Can someone please give me some info on the best way to go about this?
I am afraid once i reconnect the 850 to the mobo the system will try to boot from that. I did check my bios and my 960 is showing in top boot order under the uefi windows install.

thanks

Chino - thanks. I hooked up the drive, booted into BIOS and used the secure erase. It literally took about 3-4 seconds to clear the drive. You guys are great.
thanks !!!

Thanks Chino, Bow I know what to use when I upgrade my 2 ssd's to bigger obes. I'll use Secure Erase on the old 2, before putting the new 2 in.
It's gonna be. at least 6-8 weeks before I can do any upgrades.
I just severely fractured & dislocated my left ankle. Just got out of the hospital from 2 surgeries to rebuild it. Probably 10-20 screws in it now.

Secure erase does work quickly and can be done to any non system drive easily, Samsung magician will do it as well.

Its fast because its simplistic. Unlike old spinners where it was all magnetically stored and you have to write all 0s then all 1s several times over to make sure its all gone SSDs are simply non volatile memory. Secure erase simple sends out a single reset to zero pulse to all nand addresses simultaneously...done. Everything is now a digital 0. This comes in handy when you start to notice a significant decline in performance of the SSD. Do the secure erase and its like factory fresh again.
