So, i have ryzen 1600x, mb asus strix b350 f gaming, and i cant update bios whatever i do. My version of bios is 0223 (which somehow is older than first bios release 0221), w/e i do i cant update it, i read about changing name of .cap file, didnt work, using varius slots and usb/fat32 to flash it, nothin' has worked.. Did anybody had same issue? If u did please help me. Even tried from windows to update it from aisuite still nothing, i'm out of ideas anymore eprom is out of question...

For error i'm getting it says smt like this: "not proper bios file"

Main reason i wanna update bios is becouse sometimes i cant start my computer, everything is working but led is red on mb, need to restart then, and from 1-3 times i have a nice boot. And sometimes when windows starts, my keyboard and mouse isnt working, same need to restart and its fine...

And i'm editing this post for 2nd time bcs today i got 3 times blue screen... Pls help me guys, if any1 knows it would be you!!

Tnx in advance!

I think red light was CPU. Do a CMOS clear (plug battery out for a minute or so and short the clear CMOS pins during the same time).

Check that the ram sticks are properly inserted, check that the cooler is properly sitting on the CPU. Make sure all wires and such are where they should be.
Tr just 1 stick of ram.

Try also updating to BIOS 0401 FIRST then to the latest. Of course do it after the CMOS clear for better chances.

Hello and ty for replay! I cleared CMOS tried every single bios available there, even 0.221. Its always says "not proper bios file".
For CPU, i think its installed correctly becouse i did every single stress on him (max temp around 55c), and everything went normal.
For the thing i did not tried is updateing bios via DOS. I found interesting thread about editing x370 and use with 0.809 (edited) use DOS metod and try to flash it. But i think its a little bit risky.

The thing is bothering me the most is that my bios (0.223) is older than first bios release (0.221)...

Are you sure you got the right bios for the right board? Do you have the x370 strix board or the b350f board? Make sure you download the right BIOS for the right chipset. Do not bios update from windows tho. Not recommended.

Positive (asus rog strix b 350-f gaming)...
I tried DOS, to 0.401 versions of bios and it worked, and got my self black screen... I'll try with ram/unplug, clear CMOS again. If that doesnt work i will try recovery with CD.

My plan was to update bios via dos to 0.401 and then flash it with x370 modeled with 0.809 beccase of ram frequence bug. But got stuck now with 0.401 black screen.. ill post here updates for any1 who have similar bugs

I don't quite think it's possible or a good idea flashing a bios for a different MB. I can understand modded bioses for your MB but not so much otherwise.

Also for me the best option of flashing is from within the bios, using the built in flashing utility.

Where did you read about flashing x370 bios to b350? Pls post or pm a link. Im curious.

i dont understand a word you are saying? 0.223 older than 0.221 ? you mix up boards and bios? want to flash a modded x370 onto a b350-f for what reason ?
a ram frequence bug? ..
try this one first. flash the 0809 bios first, see if your problems go away, disconect everything xpect keyboard while flashing. only use 1 ram stick while flashing if you are afraid of a ram bug. plz explain or link the ram frequence bug info.
i remember in the old dos flash days there was a force option in the .exe flash file but i strongly suggest not to make use of it. try 0809 first and let me know how it went, ok ?

greetings

It worked! I mean i update with dos to 0.809, then i coudnt start computer (got black screen), after that i used CD for recovery mode and when i went into bios, version was 0.809! Ty btw, sry if i confuse you about bios versions. About that: my bios original on board was 0.223 ( information about 0.223 was that it bios was older then first bios release 0.221 on asus site for my board (b350 f gaming)...

And about that mod i didnt tried it: http://www.overclock.net/t/1634764/bios-mod-asus-rog-b350-f-strix

About that ram frequence bug, my ram is working on 2133mhz, i have 8gb (2x Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz), i know that with this Ryzen 1600x processor ram cant work by default higher than 2600mhz. So my question is do you know maybe what it can be? I want it to work on 2600 w/o clocking it.

Like i mentioned before i updated bios from 0.223 to 0.809 through DOS/usb. Got black-screen after and i just put cd for recovery mode. And that was it my motherboard was update to 0.809. (That doesnt mean that u need to use DOS, just try with removing your one ram kit like i said bellow, and update it with EZFLASH like it suppose to be done).

Bios update 0.811 was released yesterday. Today i tried with EZ FLASH i got same problem - "not proper bios file".
- What you need to do (at least for me worked): I just unplugged one ram kit, rebooted, went to bios, again tried EZ FLASH (it doesnt need to be renamed to RSB350FG.CAP, just full name, and i updated it just fine to 0.811.

I hope i helped some1 with this. I was stuck at 0.223 for month...
