Apex Z790 - DTS Sound Unbound

Hi,

I have  a question about the DTS Sound Unbound app. On the product webpage it says this software is pre-loaded, whatever this means, because the only way to get this software is to install it from the MS store.
But it is needed to buy a license. So I assume pre-load doesn't mean is included? Very strange wording, which actually suggests that the software is included. Elsewhere on the official website of the motherboard it is referred to as ROG exclusive Software.

Could someone shed some light on this?

Thx! 🙂

Hi @Tw1nh3ad

Where is it asking you for a licence, are you able to screenshot?

Unfortunately, I am not sitting in front of my pc at the moment to take a screenshot. The software indicates that in order to activate Headphone-X, for example, a license must be purchased or a 14-day trial period can be started.

Hi,

A license for DTS Sound Unbound is included in DTS APO4x Extension Driver which is installed with your Realtek USB Audio Drivers.

Hi,

So do I have to install/use this one for my APEX Z790 board?
Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS PRIME DTSX Ultra)
Download : Link

After the installation of this driver package DTS Sound Unbound should then be automatically licensed?

No, this one is not for your motherboard type.

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC408x codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS-DTS) or Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS Legacy) from the first post of this thread : [DRIVERS] Realtek USB Audio (AMD 5xx/6xx/TRX40 & Intel 5xx/6xx/7xx).

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

Yes.

Hi MoKiChU,

Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, this did not work. After install.cmd (I followed every step in your howto) and the automatic restart, the driver was probably not installed. (Sry, all Screenshots are in German language)

After installing DTS Sound Unbound, it is still not permanently licensed (I had started the two-week test phase a few days ago, so don't be surprised that the status is licensed)

Realtek Audio Control cannot even be installed via the store.

I have installed the driver manually

and after reinstalling DTS Sound Unbound the permanent licence is now activated.
However, Realtek Audio Control is still not installable. What surprises me is that you can't find the software in the MS Store search.
