..the software doesn't even start. 😕 I've found some suggestions, like run it in compatibility mode and/or as admin, but nothing helped. I can't believe it was "too hard" for Asus to respect it's customers and update the software for older models.. 😞
You're in the wrong section of this forum, you might have better luck in the older g series section.
Anyway I've disabled the lights completely on a G71g through linux. Though in windows even asus direct console 2.0 won't allow you to turn off the leds completely. You will always have the express gate button lit up and you will always have the rog logo lit up on the back.
If you don't want the lights anymore you can take the screen apart and cut/disconnect the wires to the leds. I usually take the screen apart on the g71 series to install foil tape behind the lcd so that annoying blue light won't bleed through the screen. Tin foil works if you don't have foil tape.
