Any version of Aura, instant 5ghz 24/7 on any setting beside breathing or static?

Does anyone know why any version of Aura causes my cpu to run at max o/c speed of 5ghz as soon as I apply any custom color setting for my G.Skill RGB ram besides breathing, static or rainbow? When I check my processes under task manager the lighting service is always above 10% any setting besides breathing, static or rainbow. When I use breathing/static/rainbow my cpu runs anywhere from 1.7ghz to 3.5ghz. I have tried every version of Aura available and am running the latest 1406 bios.

I would prefer to use the Stary Night setting, but I would like to not run my cpu at max speed all the time.

Specs in signature, thanks!

Do you leave Aura running after you set everything up the way you want it? Or do you apply any changes and then shut Aura down?
I'd like to deploy my troops in her country.

I close it, but the Lighting Service stays running. If I set the RAM LED's to breathing, rainbow or static, the lighting service only uses less than 1% cpu. WHen I change it to any other setting, it runs around 10% cpu and kicks my processor up to 5ghz. I have uninstalled, used Aura clean, reinstalled every version since I built this computer in May/June and it always pegs out my proc. I can stop the service and the RAM stays whatever colors/pattern I set it to, but have not tested a reboot to see if it stays. Will try it now.

Stopping the Lighting service while having the RAM LED's set to Starry-Night, makes the starry effect stop, but the colors stay solid. If I stop the service while breathing is enabled, the RAM continues to breathe with the correct color settings.

There are multiple threads on the software through which you may want to sift. See if there is a solution or if this is a software issue ASUS devs will need to address with an update at some point. Aura seems to be problematic so don't hold your breath on the latter.

On my PC the Wraith Spire red LED stopped working, suddenly. Then it worked again, then stopped working once more. Only 1/4 of the spire will light up red, the remaining 3/4 remaining dormant. All other colours are fine. I reckon it's a hardware issue but wouldn't rule out Aura being the culprit, either.

So I guess the software just plain sucks and they will never get it fixed 😞

Unfortunately that seems to be the case. One thing might get fixed but another issue materializes in its place. The software has grown to incorporate many different manufacturers components so I understand why it may be difficult to resolve all underlying issues, but others feel ASUS had enough time to stabilize the software by this point.

Aside from the issue with the Wraith Spire cooler, AURA also won't allow certain functions to work with my Intel build or my AMD build. For example, the static function turns off the Strix 1070 lights on one PC, and the Spire cooler on the other PC. It just won't work. But it doesn't seem to affect CPU usage on either of my PC's. Extremely inconsistent problems.

Either wait for a software patch that addresses your issue or use stand alone software for each component if available.
