Hello mate could you tell us what the issue was and how you fixed it.
Sorry that no one responded to your request. I would normally have replied but have been away for a few months.
That's no problem. You don't have to apologize for people not being able to help. After all, it wasn't a straight-forward solution either. But perseverance pays. I never ever back down from annoyances on the PC and solve all problems the way they should and not just format the disk and reïnstall. Hence through the years I gained good knowledge of how stuff works and how to deal with issues.
In this case I looked up what changed and noticed that prior to the problems, I installed software that was part of AI Suite. I run the Crosshair Formula V non-Z and therefore I have ROGconnect. Now I saw an IOS app for ROGconnect through bluetooth and wanted to give that a try. I can't remember anymore but somewhere for some reason I installed a ROGconnect related piece of software from another mobo in the ROG series. That installed a version of the ASIO.SYS driver that was incompatible with my config and the system started giving BSOD's at boot.
Since I have dual boot, I booted my other OS and renamed ASIO.sys. That allowed me to boot the first OS again but gave errors for AI Suite. Because I renamed ASIO.SYS it could not work anymore, but also uninstall and reïnstall were no longer possible.
So the solution in the end was to download and extract the correct AI Suite package. In here I was able to locate "ASIO64.SYS"
I renamed that file to ASIO.SYS and copied it into C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\DRIVERS.
Now all works again and was able to uninstall the piece of software that I had installed but was not intended for my config.
And just be sure, because something was still wrong because filenames don't match (ASIO.SYS vs ASIO64.SYS); I uninstalled AI Suite completely and will reïnstall a few days from now, when I get to it.
Cheers
