Touchpad NumPad Not Working After Clean Windows Installation - Asus rog Strix 635LW

Hello,

I have an ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 16 (G635LW) laptop with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU.

I'm experiencing an issue with the touchpad NumPad feature. It was working fine initially when I first used the laptop, but after performing a clean installation of Windows 11 and installing all the drivers from the official ASUS support page, the NumPad no longer activates when tapping the top-right corner of the touchpad.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Installed all necessary drivers from ASUS (ATK/Hotkey, Precision Touchpad, etc.)

  • Reinstalled Armoury Crate and MyASUS

  • Verified Device Manager — no errors or missing devices

  • Followed all troubleshooting suggestions found on the ASUS website and forums

The last thing that changed before the issue started was a BIOS update to version 318. Could this be related to the problem?
Alternatively, is it possible that the NumPad function on the touchpad has physically failed?

Any help or suggestions to restore the NumPad functionality would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

[SOLVED] ASUS ROG G635LW – Touchpad NumPad not working after clean Windows install

Issue:
After a clean installation of Windows 11 and manually installing all drivers from the official ASUS support page, the touchpad NumPad did not work — tapping the top-right corner of the touchpad had no effect.

What I tried (did NOT help):

  • Installed all available drivers manually from ASUS website

  • Reinstalled Armoury Crate and MyASUS

  • Checked BIOS settings, even tried BIOS rollback

  • No issues in Device Manager — everything looked fine

What actually fixed it:
The problem was completely resolved after using the “One Click Driver & Software Install” tool from the official ASUS support page for my model.
After running this installer, it downloaded and installed some additional/required components, and the NumPad feature started working as expected.

Conclusion:
Even if you install all drivers manually, One Click Installer may pull hidden or secondary components necessary for features like the touchpad NumPad, EC communication, or ASUS-specific HID interfaces.

🟢 I highly recommend running One Click Driver Install right after doing a clean Windows install.
