I wanted to start a discussion about an issue I'm facing with my ROG Strix G16 and see if others are experiencing the same thing.
My Setup:
ROG Strix G16
Plugged into AC power
Connected to two external monitors
The Problem: Whenever my laptop goes to sleep, it enters Modern Standby. The problem is, because the external monitors are connected, my dGPU and PCIe bus stay active. This causes the laptop to get really warm—sometimes hot—while it's supposed to be sleeping.
I noticed that Armoury Crate has a great feature to put the laptop into hibernation from sleep to save power, but it only works on battery. When plugged in, my laptop just stays in that hot standby state forever. It's frustrating because I'm worried about the long-term heat stress on the components. My 1st laptop was fails and I received new one due to this.
Feature Request for ASUS: While the workaround is okay, this should really be a built-in feature in Armoury Crate. I believe we should have the option to tell Armoury Crate to hibernate the laptop after a set time in Modern Standby, even when plugged in.
Also if in sleep mode deactivate dgpu even hdmi and c ports are connected.
This seems like a simple software fix that would be a huge quality-of-life improvement for anyone who uses their powerful ROG laptop as a desktop replacement.
What do you all think? Has anyone else noticed this? If you agree, let's make some noise so the ASUS software team might see this and add it to a future update!

I also have a problem that the laptop often does not go to sleep, or goes to sleep, but the fans are working.
Tried turn on S3 in Smokeless_UMAF, but to no avail, the laptop stopped waking up from sleep altogether.
I think the problem is that Asus completely removed it from the BIOS on new laptops.
There is hope that this will be fixed with a BIOS update, but I highly doubt it.

Model asus g614pp, and yes, there is such a thing, but it doesn’t bother me, it’s quite quiet. I don't think it's a defect.

All I can say about this is that it is a common problem, regardless of price. It happens on video cards, PSUs, laptops and so on. I would advise you to just not worry about it, because it does not pose any danger.
