I un-istalled AC but still have AsusCertService.exe - can I remove that too?

Hi

I am using Windows 10 Pro, and I have an ASUS motherboard (ROG Crosshair X670E Hero), and an ASUS TUF 4090 GPU. I originally installed amoury crate but then decided I would rather have the 8% of my 7950 CPU load dedicated to my own workloads rather than it be used for tracking my actions and providing telemetry to ASUS. So I uninstalled AC, and everything I could see running in the background from ASUS. But of course I have one service left that I've heard conflicting reports about, AsusCertService.exe.

My 2 questions are

1. What does this service do ?

2. If I disable it what implications will it have for my system (when I dont have anything else installed, so not sure what is consuming this service)

Thanks for anyone who responds with answers to my 2 questions.

If you no longer use Asus software, the service can be removed.

1) see https://www.file.net/process/asuscertservice.exe.html
2) if you install Armoury Crate or other Asus software, you can remove the service.

Firstly, this file is located in "C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AsusCertService\AsusCertService.exe", remove the folder and then the service itself must be removed so that it is not called up again the next time Windows boots, which can lead to an error if you have already deleted the service file.

Thanks @inge70  I will remove the folder like you recommended. I did notice 2 other executables that are in the same folder.  I appreciate the tone and content of your response,  focusing on my question rather than the way I worded the question or what the motivation for asking it was etc. I don't often get a straight answer on any internet forums so thanks again.

You're welcome:
But before you can remove this folder, the services that access this folder must be stopped, otherwise it won't work.

What files are still in there?
There may be more Asus services active. Look in the task manager/services.
Also check whether you have actually uninstalled all Asus software that was installed with Armoury Crate. Because some Asus services also run other Asus software in addition to ArmouryCrate, such as AiSuite3, etc.

Enter bios and deactivate the armory crate, then uninstall and go to the solution

NOTE: the armory crate WILL pop up to install and more if you  have a peripheral. just say no.
