I swear to doG that Armoury Crate breaks itself upon install...

...to force a user to update it to the newer version that doesn't work, either. How loud does everyone have to scream to get ASUS to trash this poor excuse for software and start from scratch?!?

GET A CLUE, ASUS! EVERYONE HATES ARMOURY CRATE! IT IS BROKEN BEFORE IT IS EVEN INSTALLED!

And FWIW, I installed the lite version but it forced me to update to the full version to make it still not function properly. WTFIUWT?!?

Hello Bad_Oscar

When installing Armoury Crate, I install version 3.2.11.2. It updates me to version 5.9.14.0.

I have quite a few ROG devices and all are working well.

Try uninstalling Armoury Crate from windows, reboot your pc and install Armoury Crate version 3.2.11.2.

I'm quite familiar with the process of installing and uninstalling hardware and software. I spent several years building up to eight or ten computers a day at one of my previous employers.

My version of Armoury Crate is 5.9.14.0 right now. I installed the Lite version the day before yesterday hoping to avoid the bloatware, and hence, the problems. Silly me. Armoury Crate decided I needed to update the software to function properly and basically required me to installed the entire suite of bloatware. Why offer a Lite version then have the program force me to install the full version in order to function properly? Which it does not.

I'm also not interested in controlling my memory lighting or any other of my Corsair devices with Armoury Crate. In fact, I would prefer to use the Corsair iCue ASUS plugin but it doesn't work with the Polymo lighting. Hence, I am being forced to resort to using Armoury Crate which, as I stated previously, does not function properly even with the ASUS hardware I have installed. I can control the lighting on my graphics card with the basic AURA settings but I cannot control the Polymo lighting on my motherboard at all. It is stuck on one of the default basic effects which I don't even want to use.

If I click on my motherboard under Devices, I get a message telling me it is synchronized with AURA sync. As I also stated previously, when I try to sync the devices, it can't even find them. I get a message telling me to "ensure 'I'm connected to the internet and to go to Update Center to check on prerequisite software components to enable this feature." Prerequisites, it seems are the entire package so, basically, it wants to force me to install the entire software suite. I have done all of this over and over again. I must reiterate, I do not want all of the bloatware and neither do many other people.

At least I can still control the GPU lighting with Corsair iCue so long as I don't run Armoury Crate after installing it. Once I do, iCue can no longer control it. I'm not going to waste anymore of my time on this. I have disabled the Aura effects in BIOS. That appears to be the best solution, not just for me but for a lot of people.

Yep, tried that with several older versions. I figured if I tried to install it offline, it wouldn't force the update. The program wouldn't install without an internet connection. So, I connected to the internet. I received an error message during install. It then installed 6.1.15.0.

During the install, I received the following message:

Armoury Crate Error Reporter

We've noticed errors during the update process. Would you kindly share the error log to help ASUS improve our services?

6.1.15.0 was installed automatically during the installation process. I was never given a choice. When I opened the program and  tried to select my graphics device, I received a message saying I had to update first. Why in the world would I need to update just to access my graphics device? I can see the Especially since this version of the program is supposed to be the latest version. I clicked the Install buttons knowing they would failed and they did.

ASUS HAL Central and GameFirst failed to even install properly from the initial install and and you can see from the image below the version of the program is clearly 6.1.15.0 even though I used ArmouryCrateInstaller_3.2.11.2_202401172220.

I installed another SSD drive in my PC last night to install a fresh copy of Windows 11 and then attempt to install the software as Administrator in the Windows Administrator account.  It installed and worked until I tried to install in my regular user account. Since it's an "app" the program does not automatically install for all user accounts. Nor, is there an option to do so. So, I had to install the "app" on my regular user account and it screwed everything up and wouldn't run in either account.

This "app" business is BS. Apps were developed for cell phones and the platform was migrated to PCs. This is something that never should have been done. A desktop computer is not a cell phone. If I wanted an "app", I'd use my cell phone. I want a program that I install once and it works for all users just like things used to be before all of  this "app" BS came along and ruined everything.

I have no intention of wiping my primary drive and reinstalling Windows 11 and all of my other software on it just to get this software to function properly.

System specs: ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E motherboard, AMD Ryzen 9 9950X CPU, ASUS TUF-Radeon RX7600XT, 96 GB Corsair CMP96GX5M4B6000C30 Memory, Corsair H170i LCD iCue Link AIO, Corsair H1000 PSU, Corsair Dark Core Pro mouse, Corsair K70 RGB Pro keyboard, Crucial TC2000T700SSD3 2TB, Western Digital Black SN850X 2TB, Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED G9S5SC 49" display.

I'm no longer wasting any more of my time with this. I'm not going to wipe my drive and reinstall Windows and all of my software just to install 4gb of software with features that I will never even use just to control some lights. I installed the old Aura Lighting_Control_1.07.84_v2. It detects my graphics card properly and at least I can control the lighting on it with Corsair iCue and their ASUS plugin. I can live without the polymo lighting.

Perhaps, one day ASUS will realize that the software is too bloated and scale it back giving end users the option to pick and choose features they want to install.

And just out of curiosity, what's up with Playground? Couldn't you guys come up with something better than that? It's just sounds ridiculous and doesn't lend any credibility to already bad software.

I've done that half a dozen times. I've purged all of the files from my computer manually after using the uninstall tool because it doesn't truly uninstall everything. I've removed services manually that the uninstall tool leaves behind. I've purged the registry of every single key referring to ASUS or Armoury Crate.  I've re-installed Windows and set a restore point to undo the install to try reinstalling it after it breaks. It works about three or four times and breaks again and can't find my hardware. Then it tells me it can't find my hardware because I have to update it for the feature to work.

All  I want to do is use it to adjust my AURA lighting. I don't want to create ridiculous timeline effects, which is a confusing hot mess and also doesn't even work properly. I don't want to monitor my hardware because I already have software for that. I don't want offers for special deals. I don't want "news." I don't want games linked to it. I don't want any of the bloatware that is required for it to "function properly."I especially don't want to have to be signed in to an internet account for it to allegedly "function properly."

For crying out loud, why should I be forced to load the entire clunky, bloated software just to control lighting? Why isn't there options to pick and choose which features I want to install? You have to install everything just to get basic AURA lighting to not work? It's as if it's all tied in one big Gordian knot. Plus, it doesn't even work with the Corsair iCue software like the original AURA did. At this point, I've just disabled the lighting in BIOS.

I forgot to mention waiting for it to load or switch between features is like watching paint dry. I'm using a Crosshair X870E Hero with an AMD 9 9950X CPU and 96 GB of Corsair memory. There's no reason for it to take so long to load.

Absolutely everything I have mentioned here has been complained about in this forum and on the internet. Just google it once. The complaints seem to just fall on deaf ears.

I get it. ASUS isn't a software company. So, they need to stop overthinking things by trying to pack useless features into the software and get back to basics. Trying to load everything into one giant package and expecting it all to work together is just insane. All it even takes is for one minor component to break and it breaks the entire package.

JMHO.

Thank you

As I was writing this, I got the update for 6.1.13.0. There are some big changes with it.

Ok so, what devices need updated? I can help you with the updates if it's giving you trouble.

Do any updates show at the Armoury Crate update center?

After updating to 6.1.13.0, uninstall and reinstall the corsair plug-in.

Tell me, Nate, do these logs that Error Reporter collects reach the developers? I'm just curious because I've sent them many times, and every time, Armory Crate unsuccessfully tries to install the Gaming SDK. It collects something and then sends it, and every time I open the application, I hope to see a new update.
Also, a question: if the update that failed, but is downloaded in RSDownload (if I'm not mistaken), if a new update appears with a more recent version, does it superside the previous one?
I have a suspicion that only a complete removal of Armory Crate makes the process somehow move forward.

Yes, the logs get sent to ASUS.

I got an update for the ROG Delta II, it had a red triangle like yours. If you hover over the update, it gives a message saying it couldn't finish the file installation, to restart your pc. (Error 4181)

So, I restarted my pc twice and the update went through. If it doesn't update right away, try again in 24 hours.

Try doing the Armoury Crate update first, then update the Hal and GameFirst.
