Faulting application AacAmbientLighting.exe and Armoury Crate v5.7.9

I am a long time Asus lover, but my patience is severely being tested with Armoury Crate - after issues with earlier versions of Armoury Crate there was a period of stability, and with the latest version of Armoury Crate (v5.7.9.0) I am now getting intermittent crashes with the AacAmbientLighting.exe component on a Z13.

Asus - please bug test your applications!!!!!!!!!!! and better still - ASK users before updating their version of the application!!!!!

What methods have you tried to resolve the issue?

yeah i uninstalled/reinstalled the software but still i'm facing the errors

Should be impossible to have the same error if you have uninstalled and installed.

Please got to Settings>About>Service Version and click on Check, then copy & paste the info for me here.

Since my PC is dependent on using FanExpert (and when it works it works very nicely, thank you), I couldn't uninstall Armoury Crate and instead renamed the AacAmbientLighting exe and dll to exe.bak and dll.bak, and rebooted.

That stopped all the problems I was having.

When I see the update, I'll rename them back to exe and dll.

Have a Good One! 😎

I know that the cause and the temp solution was already provided but I'll tell the issue I encountered so if someone is also having the same issue they can know why.

For some time now I was getting those random app crashes with "low memory" errors. Today I checked my task manager and LightingSerivce.exe created 1 million handles. It's not exactly the same issue but I'll still try reinstalling and see.

I had the same problem twice in the last three weeks "your device is running low on memory".

I hope the problem will be solved, otherwise i have no more patience for asus products because the last update also broke the scroll for chakram x origin.

It was solved in both of my devices with reinstalling (my laptop and desktop). The worst part of this issue is it's completely not visible unless you specially enable handles column in detailed tab of task manager. In HWInfo this usage is shown as "virtual memory".
