System:
Windows 11 Pro (x64)
Armoury Crate 6.3.4.0
TUF GAMING X870E-PLUS WIFI7 motherboard
Aura Service 3.08.59
Issue:
After today’s Aura Service update (3.08.59), all RGB lighting stopped working: fans, motherboard. Armoury Crate’s Aura Sync shows no devices.
What I tested:
Uninstalled Aura Service → reboot → all lights worked again (default rainbow).
Armoury Crate detected Aura Service missing and reinstalled 3.08.59.
Immediately after reinstall, all lights turned off.
After reboot, Windows starts, LightingService.exe runs → lights turn off again

Aura Service 3.08.59 appears to be a bad build — uninstalling restores default firmware RGB, reinstalling breaks it again.
Request:
Can ASUS confirm this is a known issue? Is there an ETA for a fixed Aura Service release?
Other users: please check your Aura Service version (Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Aura Service) and see if 3.08.59 causes the same behavior.

I have been encountering Lighning Service crashes since updating to Armoury Crate 6.3.4.0 also, the same version - 3.08.59 for Aura Service/Lighting service. However, in my case, this is happens randomly, and it doesn't seem to have any actual effects - so I assume that the Lighting Service recovers because I can fully utilize the Aura Sync and Aura Lighting sections of Armoury Crate even when I get this issue in the Reliability Monitor. It might be because I'm on a laptop.
In my case, Windows marks the error as:

I am having the exact same issue with the latest updates on my G16 Strix laptop operating Windows 11. I have to restart the lighting service after each bootup, or restart the laptop to fix it. I am still under warranty and reported the issue to Asus support. Hopefully they will provide a fix.

Easy fix, BTW. Go into services and right click on Asus Aura Lighting Service and select properties. Under the Recovery tab, after First failure, select restart service and 0 minutes. Lighting will resume after a few seconds.

This problem occurred before, with Aura Service (Lighting Service) 3.08.18. Back then, the RGB only worked after restarting the service.
However, back then, the RGB worked after booting the PC, but then suddenly stopped working later during use.
I had the problem back then with ArmouryCrate 6.1.18.0, and only an update helped.
One can only hope that Asus releases an update soon.

I had the issue before as well. In that instance, the Aura Lighting Service started, but did not recognize devices. In that instance, you had to stop the Aura Lighting service and then restart it, until a permanent fix came along. In this instance, however, since the Aura lighting service fails to start, you can go into services and use recovery to have it restart the service. So it's a bit of a different problem with a different temporary fix. I do hope as you, that Asus issues a permanent fix soon.

I'm having this issue. Fault is with LightingService.exe. Installing 3.8.59.0 causes it. Uninstalling fixes it, but then I have to way to control the RGB and am stuck with the default. Asus, please acknowledge and hotfix.

Have you tried using the recovery tab in services.msc, Asus Aura Lighting service? It's a temporary fix, at least for me.

This worked for me aswell

I'm now experiencing this error again as soon as I connect my Asus ROG STRIX ARION external M2 NVME via USB.
Currently, Windows 11 25H2 Build 26200.6899 is installed.
The Asus ROG STRIX ARION also has RGB, and as soon as it's connected and the RGB is lit, it can become inactive, meaning no RGB devices can be found in ArmouryCrate. No error message appears.
The faulty service is, as before, the Asus Aura Lighting Service.
The following entry is found in the event log:
After restarting the service, an additional entry for Aac3572MbHal_x86.exe is created, indicating the connection to the motherboard:
This all occurred previously starting with version 6.1.18.0 and is clearly persisting into the current version.
A temporary restart of the service fixes the problem, but as soon as I plug in my Asus ROG STRIX ARION again, it returns.
Disabling the RGB control via ArmouryCrate doesn't help, as the Asus ROG STRIX ARION is still recognized, and the RGB cannot be disabled there to prevent this error behavior of the entire RGB control system.
Since I had this error before and tried everything (reinstalling Armoury Crate, completely reinstalling Windows, etc.) to fix this error, but none of it helped, I won't take such steps again this time.
It only took time but didn't improve things.
I noticed the error described here after installing the latest Windows KB5066835, namely that the Asus Aura Lighting Service is malfunctioning again.
I really hope that Asus will issue an update soon, because if Microsoft is dismantling the Asus services with its updates, something is wrong.

I had this same issue earlier this year. Whenever there was any kind of Windows update, my device disappeared from Aura Sync in Armoury Crate. Armoury Crate lighting still worked. I had access to all of the lighting options under devices in Armoury Crate except Aura Sync...because no device was detected. The temporary resolution was to stop and then restart Aura Lighting service. Since my laptop was under warranty, I was able to get support from ASUS. The issue was fixed with the release of Armoury Crate 6.2.7.0 and Ambient HAL 6.5.0.0.
Unfortunately, the latest updates of Armoury Crate and specifically Aura Lighting Service caused the issue to recur. Aura lighting service fails to start after complete shutdown and bootup. After the latest Windows update, my device again disappeared from Aura Sync. Stopping and restarting Aura Lighting Service fixed the issue. However, there is still the issue of Aura lighting service failing to start upon bootup. The temporary fix is to select "restarting the service with O minutes" under Aura Lighting service properties in services.msc. For me it takes about 5 seconds for my Aura Lighting to restart correctly.
So, it appears the issue is in the updates to the Aura Lighting Service to v 3.08.59 as to any updates of Armoury Crate. I have let Asus Support know, but have not received any response. There really is no trouble shooting or uninstalls/reinstalls to do. We just need to hope the next update to Aura Lighting fixes it.
