ASUS Armoury Crate will not update ROGLiveService 3.1.16.0 0x80072EE2

I get the error: Unable to connect to the Internet. If you use a firewall, please whitelist AsusUpdate.exe. (0x80072EE2)

I added AsusUpdate.exe to the Windows firewall, but it did not help.  Then, I disabled both the Windows 11 firewall and Webroot SecureAnywhere firewall, but ROGLIveService still gets that update error.

I had disabled all firewalls before and the ASUS software failed to update.  When my computer started up today, it asked me about the Windows 11 Firewall for Armoury Crate today.  I added the private box.  Then I saved it.  I went into ASUS Armoury Crate, selected the update again, and this time it worked.  Possibly ASUS did something to fix it on their server end.

I am reproducing the same error as Brent, also after disabling all firewalls

Looks like this has happened before, a year ago.  The issue resolved itself after something else updated: https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/armoury-crate/error-updating-armoury-crate-unable-to-connect-to-the-in...

@Armoury team, it would be great to get to the bottom of this recurring bug, or add tests that block this from being released, whatever the cause is

Also had the same issue. Found another thread about this: https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/armoury-crate/cannot-update-the-armouary-crate/td-p/1109518

But I solved it by doing what the error message states: I added the AsusUpdate.exe to the whitelist.

1) goto firewall settings of windows
2) Allow an app through firewall
3) choose app --> your asus folder and the AsusUpdate.exe location; e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\Update\AsusUpdate.exe
4) save (don't forget to tick the checkbox for public!)
5) try update again
