Armoury Crate Completely Missing From Windows Dynamic LIghting

Since the recent update to, I believe, ASUS Windows Dynamic Lighting Plug-In, Armoury Crate is missing from Windows Dynamic Lighting.

By this I mean it no longer appears in the "priority list" at all.

If I uninstall it and reinstall it, it comes back, but as soon as I let it get up to date, it disappears again.

Does anyone have a fix for this or is it a bug and we are waiting on another update to the ASUS Windows Dynamic Lighting Plug-in?

I can see in the registry under Local_User\Software\Microsoft\Lighting\Providers it is absent, so looks like it is installing incorrectly in some manner or failing to install and thinks it has installed OK, but has not.

Can anyone assist?

WDL is part of the windows. is on all windows 11 computers that has ms account. i can disable the use WDL over ac also. and is not part of armory crate. the ac what it does is products that are compatible can be control on ac win / win ac etc

You're just as up-to-date as I am.

Only the OP has a laptop and is already on Armoury Crate version 6.2.9.0, but his problem only affects the Asus Ambient HAL plugin 6.5.0.0, and as soon as he installs it, ArmouryCrate is no longer listed under Background Light Control in Windows.
So it must be this plugin that's causing AC to suddenly stop appearing.

Think about the RGB problem I had with version 6.1.18.0. I wrote a really long thread and tried everything imaginable to fix it.
We both wrote to each other there several times because you couldn't reproduce what was going wrong for me.
Although everything was working stably for you again, nothing worked for me.
Only the update to Armoury Crate version 6.2.7.0 solved the problem, and everything has been working great since then.

I think @silberbeat33 will have the same experience. As long as there is no update for Asus Ambient HAL 5.6.0.0, he will no longer see Armoury Crate in the Windows settings under Background Control with this plugin version.
Therefore, he should stay on Asus Ambient HAL 6.1.0.0 until another HAL update addresses this issue.
At least, that's my conclusion from everything he's already tried.

Yeah, agreed. I'll wait for a new HAL (post 6.5.0.0) and hope for the best! Seems some others with this issue are coming out of the woodwork.

That's dead right. 6.1.0.0 is all good, but 6.5.0.0 cause it to "disappear" from Windows Dynamic Lighting entirely. I'm going to wait for a newer version than 6.5.0.0 and hope that it is sorted with that.

I have this same issue, using Asus ROG STRIX G15 (i9-14900HX,RTX4060)

Initially the Aura Sync didn't work asking to update priority list and I tried changing the priority list but the "Dynamic Lighting Background Controller" kept coming on top after a few seconds. So I uninstalled and reinstalled Armoury Crate and Aura Sync, and now the entire Armoury Crate option is missing similar to yours.

Guess I'll try downgrading the software later, hoping they'll fix this issue soon with upcoming updates.

I wouldn't be too worried as it's only be an issue for me for a short time over the year I've had the laptop. If you unse the removal tool then install the latest armour crate\aura creator package and only update the "app" and not the sub-compents it will keep working. Then you (and I) just need to wait for a newer version of the HAL and hope for the best (i.e. a version newer than 6.5.0.0).

It appears that Armoury Crate 6.2.11.0 fixes this. It force-installed the HAL update without me telling it to, when I updated Armoury Crate from 6.2.10.0 to 6.2.11.0 but it works. Good news.
