Time to upgrade from Asus Ares 1

Hi all,

Well, after almost 4 years of hammering my trusty Ares,I think its time for an upgrade. I have had the best of times with this card, its been an absolute pleasure owning such a beast. It has never let me down apart from the odd dodgy driver along the way. I think the first package for it was the 9.2 or something similar, that is how long its been. this is by far the best gfx card I have ever owned. But enough reminiscing its time to find a successor! that's where you guys come in. It is only now that I feel technology has moved on enough to take the next step.

My criteria is pretty much the same, single card double performance so it has to be a dual GPU card, budget is around £600-£800 might stretch a bit further for that special one. Im a bit out of touch with all the market at the moment as I knew there was no need to upgrade. at least 6GB Vram and 2 GPU's

Over to you let me know should I jump the AMD ship and go green or stick with what I know?

Kind Regards

Sal.

If you want best you must try GTX780Ti. full unlocked GK110 is fantastic. With GTX580 - GF110 for me best NVIDIA chip.
But if you like Radeon more than R9-290X. Some logic choice for you is even maybe R9-295X if you want to keep tradition of dual cards.
I had HD5870, that was really nice card, maybe last best from AMD. Anyway you didn't miss to much from AMD side, HD6970 was nothing special,
HD7970 better, R9-290X I don't know, people say it's even better.

unless you're going back several generations, I don't think you're going to find a dual gpu card for under $1000. Not even $1500ish and that's only with AMD. Nvidia is going to be a LOT more.

If i'm wrong, someone point us in the right direction.
