Hello it's been a while since i last logged in here so been out of the running with computers. Been building them and made a few custom waterloops. Last VGA i bought for myself was around the R9 280X thats also the last time i've been around RoG stuff. So i have the following questions what the differance between original RoG stuff and the new STRIX stuff? I see that the RX480 and the GTX 1080 has the STRIX branding on them and the old R9 280x and GTX 980Ti have the matrix naming on them. Does the STRIX replace the Matrix or are we gonne see more matrix? The R9 300 series never had a Matrix card. I want to inform myself before buying a new Graphics card

The Strix gpu's are overclocked higher out of the box but you can squeeze more out of them.

I wouldn't expect any less oc features, with GPU Tweak II everything is there to overclock. There are two fan headers on the Strix 1080/1070 that are controlled by gpu temp, if you're liquid cooling your cpu you can have the case fans ramp up and down with the gpu temp which is a great idea.

Here I used MSI afterburner to overclock my Matrix Platinum 980 Ti to 1512MHz on the core and the Vram to 8208MHz, as with memory double it for actual speed. I know this doesn't pertain to the new gpu's but I thought I'd share. 🙂

Maximus viii formula and 6700k clocked to 4.8GHz.

STRIX series is for mainstream gamer
Matrix series is for hardcore / overclocking Power users
moreover STRIX is more affordable
I think MATRIX series is under developing for NV/AMD product line

Maybe ASUS want to launch Radeon Poseidon now when new high end models show up.
I need graphic card in this year, that's confirmed... I saved money for GPU upgrade. I would be happiest with Predator+Poseidon on Rampage V Black.
That's configuration of my dreams for sooner future. Even cheaper EKWB Predator 240 version is enough for CPU/GPU I think.

But ASUS will launch Matrix version of new Radeon generation 100%.
Matrix or some other ROG premium version. Still I'm more for GeForce, much easier for gaming and Control Panel optimization, tweaking, etc...
