HEllo i just upgraded from an 7870 to the R9280X-DC2T-3GD5

I followed these steps for drivers

1. Ran Catalyst control center from C:/ AMD and did a custom uninstall. Removed all
2. Restarted computer
3. Ran Driver Fusion and deleted everything from AMD
4. Restarted computer
5. Installed latest 13.12 R9 drivers from AMD site

I get artifacts (shapes, lines , squares) flashing everywhere in screen , when in Chrome, in Dota 2 and Planetside 2. Haven't tested in more games , but I guess it will be the same.
The card will need a replacement? I have a Corsair CX600 , AMD FX 8350, Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1600 mhz
I read somewhere about GPU bios update. I ran the GPU ASUS TWEAK software that came in with the CD, and i tried to update something but i got a message ROM programming fail. But then it seemed to installed the update and forced me to restart the computer.
But still i get artifacts.
What do you suggest?

Dude, i'm really sorry to hear that. Still, how the hell did the update brick it?
I flashed my card 2xtimes with the latest bios from ASUS site no problem and the same update bricked your card? That's really weird. Maybe you should try warranty, if you still have it? If their bios update really ****ed up your card that should be covered by warranty, i think.
Or, maybe somebody can un-brick your card somehow. I heard it can be done. Find a computer shop and ask them. They should be able to do it probably.

Not sure how the update knackered the card. I just ran the exe and the program did it's thing. Then I rebooted and......nothing. So now the card is out of the machine and I'm running off Intel HD.

Good news is I'm going to a friend's place tomorrow who has a MB with 2 x GPU slots. I've got my USB boot stick with ATIFLASH and the old BIOS on it so I'm hoping it will be up and running.

I also have an RMA request in with the supplier so will be returning it to them on Monday due to the artifact issue that landed me in this bother in the first place! Just hope they turn it round quicker than their maximum 28 day test period.

I have the same issue.

I can't RMA the card since it can't identify the Serial No. for some reason. I have sent an e-mail to cc-adam and hope he will reply for my RMA request

Put the card in my friend's machine and unfortunately it wasn't recognised. So it's going back to the retailer tomorrow under the original RMA of artifact problems. I might slip a note in the box to say that it's now completely unresponsive due to a failed flash courtesy of the ASUS website.

I have sent an e-mail to cc-adam and hope he will reply for my RMA request

Who's cc-adam?

cc-adam@asus.com is the networking specialist, i've talken to him before.
He could handle RMA requests for you, if the retailer doesn't accept it.

Posting his e-mail isn't a problem, since ASUS NA has twittered his email quite a few times.

Hi guys;

i recently purchased a second hand asus R9280X DC2 3GD5 V2
http://www.asus.com/au/Graphics_Cards/R9280XDC23GD5V2/

and i have been having the same problems like everyone in this thread, i wanted to ask someone who is experienced in this issue, what is the best
cutom bios for this card to fix all the issues, i am mostly interested in stability over performance cause the card is power enough for my gaming needs.

kind regards

Well I am RMAing for the third time now. The second card they gave me was a piece of junk. Artifacts on the desktop or in a web browser whereas the first card took a little while in games before acting up. This issue is utterly ridiculous. Third time hopefully is the charm. It was a lot easier to get them to issue me an RMA this time at least. Will keep you guys posted.

Also LOL just noticed my username misspelled when I hurriedly registered on here.

Hi guys! I live in Ukraine. Despite the many bad reviews acquired Asus R9 280X (core frequency - 1000 memory - 1500) two weeks ago. All products ASUS, which I bought earlier work for a long time and now, too. I do not know statistics marriage cards and I do not think most of the bad cards. The serial number of my copy says that the card is made in June 2014. So far so good. Perhaps the manufacturer has already made some changes. I do not know.
I never use a stress test for my computer. It is all the same as if you buy a car and immediately go to Paris - Dakkar. Even if you come to the finish line, it does not mean that the car is not dead and will run for a long time. In any case, I will regularly visit this forum and to monitor developments. I do not scoff at the video card, but also do not want to see the artifacts in future.

i have learnt a very valuable lesson when shopping for any pc components, i am never going to relay on you tubers like Linus Tech tips, tech of tomorrow or Jayz2Cents, because they are all paid off by their sponsors, every review of the R9 280x are all very positive. and not one famous you tuber has mentioned anything about the issue.

Any card i am thinking of purchasing in the future, before buying i am going to do a Google search like "R9 280x Artifacts" and if hundred of pages pop up like this card, i am staying away.

this is clearly an AMD issue, because the other manufacturers have the same issue. i evened did a Google search of 7970 artifacts, and heaps of pages came up as well. not defending Asus or the other companies, but why are all the r9 series having Artifact issues, from 270-290x. just do a Google search, and you will be surprised.

i have tried heaps of drivers, and the best one i found that had the least amount of issues is the 14.11.2 Beta.. the latest WHQL 14.9 felt more like a beta driver then an official release.

Ready to confirm. When I install the drivers from the disk (the new Windows), the computer showed the gray screen of death. On the other drivers were immediately artifacts as in the screenshot. After installing the beta 14.11.2 problems disappeared.

It's not the 280X that is the issue. It's the GDDR5 VRAM that's the issue here. They are seperately from ASUS, and AFAIK it runs on a way beyond specification of voltage in the DC2(T) non V2 versions. Aka we have been ripped off.
