R9 280x DirectCU II Top Artifacts!!

HEllo i just upgraded from an 7870 to the R9280X-DC2T-3GD5

I followed these steps for drivers

1. Ran Catalyst control center from C:/ AMD and did a custom uninstall. Removed all
2. Restarted computer
3. Ran Driver Fusion and deleted everything from AMD
4. Restarted computer
5. Installed latest 13.12 R9 drivers from AMD site

I get artifacts (shapes, lines , squares) flashing everywhere in screen , when in Chrome, in Dota 2 and Planetside 2. Haven't tested in more games , but I guess it will be the same.
The card will need a replacement? I have a Corsair CX600 , AMD FX 8350, Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1600 mhz
I read somewhere about GPU bios update. I ran the GPU ASUS TWEAK software that came in with the CD, and i tried to update something but i got a message ROM programming fail. But then it seemed to installed the update and forced me to restart the computer.
But still i get artifacts.
What do you suggest?

Are you sure you have V2? Is it triple-slot big? Man, i was sure V2 didn't have these problems as they have their memory cooled i believe.
I think there's one bios for V2 and one for non-V2 version. I'm not sure tho. AtiWinFlash tells you if you try to flash unsupported (wrong) bios for your card so i don't think you should have problems.
Still, be careful and good luck if you'll try. 🙂

I have 6 x R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 from a previous build but no longer use it, so i took some out for my machine, shows artifacts. temps are fine 63c-67c. i just dont understand why this is happening, i rma'd all 6 after trying them each. Got new ones and again are doing the same thing. mind you i havent tried all of them just two so far. If there is an adjusted vbios i would love to have it, here is a vid of it.

just driving me nuts!

There is modified bios and instructions two posts up.

Yeah but why has there never been any official response on this GPU matter? This is absurd and imho total fraud. I fixed mine through unofficial methods. They should remove this GPU from the market ASAP(if it isn't already)

It's because they don't give a **** and believe people have time and nerves to RMA 5 cards in a row just to get lucky and score a good one.
Mine is still not fixed but it's a lot better than before. If i had chosen to RMA it when i had the chance i would've been without a GPU for
a whole ****ing month, at least, so i decided to try and fix it myself like many people do. I'm glad i did that but ASS-US lost me as a customer.
I've always been a Gigabyte guy and never EVER had any problems with their products. I really wish i bought Gigabyte 280x 'cause i only bought the ASS-US one because it looked better. Never again!

Yeah i have the V2 triple slot card. its the same S#&T dude. even people who purchased the most expensive r9 280x RoG edition have the same issue, Gigabyte, Sapphire and Asus its all the same crap from what i have been reading online. yesterday for kicks i typed in google R9 290 artifacts and r9 270x artifacts and the same issue hundreds of users complaining. its pretty disgusting that we the consumers are buying these faulty cards, and even people who RMA them get another faulty one.

Well, i tried some stuff too couple of days ago and i don't have that black square show up anymore. 🙂
In Catalyst control center i tuned on GPU scaling and i haven't seen the square ever since. Before that i would see it on a daily basis.
I also downclocked the memory clock to 1500Mhz a while ago because if i don't, i get weird flickering every once in a while.
And I figured out that ASUS GPUTweak is not downclocking GPU's memory if you do it there so you gotta downclock in Catalyst.
So now my mem clock is 1500Mhz, GPU clock is 1100Mhz and PowerTune at +10%, GPU scaling is on and all is good. 🙂

I get a weird issue, has anyone seen this before ? Two cards, 280x Top in crossfire. Once the driver crashes (driver has recovered bla bla), the first card is stuck at 970 Mhz. Can't change it with Catalyst, Afterburner, nothing. Only restart does the trick. Second card remains at 1070 when needed (usually it's stopped ).

Well, i would say you probably have some driver issues. I don't believe driver crashes are happening because of a GPU. I could be wrong but Catalyst crashes usually happen because of software related issues.
Have you tried clean Uninstall of Catalyst and GPU drivers and installing a different version again?

Out of curiosity, has anyone used a full watercooling solution on these cards ? If so , any feedback on that ?

I am having issues reproducing the artefacts on mine and the shop from where I bought it only uses benchmarking programs to test it (Furmark, Heaven etc etc) and in those programs usually these cards are rock solid. They fail mostly in games and in 2D in Chrome, if hardware acceleration is on.
