R9 280x DirectCU II Top Artifacts!!

HEllo i just upgraded from an 7870 to the R9280X-DC2T-3GD5

I followed these steps for drivers

1. Ran Catalyst control center from C:/ AMD and did a custom uninstall. Removed all
2. Restarted computer
3. Ran Driver Fusion and deleted everything from AMD
4. Restarted computer
5. Installed latest 13.12 R9 drivers from AMD site

I get artifacts (shapes, lines , squares) flashing everywhere in screen , when in Chrome, in Dota 2 and Planetside 2. Haven't tested in more games , but I guess it will be the same.
The card will need a replacement? I have a Corsair CX600 , AMD FX 8350, Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1600 mhz
I read somewhere about GPU bios update. I ran the GPU ASUS TWEAK software that came in with the CD, and i tried to update something but i got a message ROM programming fail. But then it seemed to installed the update and forced me to restart the computer.
But still i get artifacts.
What do you suggest?

Also post the first three digits of the serial number to verify if this new batch that Ishan saying is working.

My reseller finally checked the card and agreed on refund me. After six months I got rid of this piece of sh**t! Going to buy a Sapphire R9 290 or 290X and finally enjoy my new computer build without any artifacts and issues.

This is my last post here and I hope everyone to find a solution like me and Xarups did. Thank you to anyone who contributed finding a solution but unfortunately it was not what we expected. My final advice is do not RMA the card, call your reseller and ask for an exchange or even a refund and sort this out for good.

Hello,

Many months ago i was interested in buying a 280x but i didnt have the cash (amazon had a deal on these last christmas but i missed it)

Finally i found a deal on newegg for ~270 (after MIR) with 3 games (amd bundle) included. Pulled the trigger.

Then i started reading about all kinds of problems with artifacting. awesome, i didnt remember anything like this last time i looked at these cards.

So these are my questions:

People who have had to RMA their card:

Did you get it solved first try?

Have you been reimbursed for shipping for what seems like a known issue? (IE their fault and no matter what a warranty states they need to do right by you)

Refunds / alternatives available if you are dissatisfied?

Has ASUS released any information regarding a fix for the defects and what dates are affected / ok?

Does anyone have information i can check on my new card (should arrive tomorrow) that tells me its a revision 1 / 2 / whatever?

Any horror stories?

/crossing my fingers that my card is fine, i dont have all the parts of the system its going in yet -_-

My card i still on RMA process, i am hoping that my card is replaced for a working one. My case is similar to yours, i bought my card way before i had all the parts to assemble my new PC because it was on special sale, but when i put everything together i started to experience artifacting, but the 30 days for trading the card for a new one (no questions asked) were long gone and i had to go through the painful RMA process.

You might be lucky and get a good card, but you should test it as soon as you get it, ask a friend or someone who can borrow you a PC to test it. Or if you have the possibility to change your order, do it. That's my advice to you. Save yourself from the strenuous RMA process.

As it stands now the only thing i need to get the machine working is a PSU and HD. I think ill hold off buying a SSD and grab a regular hd and PSU to get this thing moving. Decent PSU and 2tb HD shouldnt put me too far back.

I choose not to buy an SSD too for now. I already got a response from ASUS and they have replaced my card for a new one :), it's on its way as i write this. Now i am praying for fully functional card without any artifacting issues. If it's working fine, only then i will think about getting an SSD.

So, today my replacement card finally arrived (third one). I was initially happy, but when I saw serial number, my heart dropped. It starts with E1Y, so its made in January, bad sign thought because my first card was also made back then. Well I was right, first I tried GTA 4 where I always had consistent artifacts. After 10 minutes suprise suprise, here they are . Now I'm so mad, I will probably destroy this card with hammer and throw it in a bin. What is enough, is enough. 3rd RMA!

Here is my video:

Could this possibly be driver issue?

Oh man you are scaring me, my brand new replacement card is on its way as i write this, it has been more than 30 days since i sent it (1st RMA). I have been praying for a replacement instead of a fix. ASUS confirmed me that it has been replaced and they are sending me a new one. But i believe that the problem will persist...

Maybe if it's completely sealed with plastic i will sell it as it is... and buy a GTX 770.
