HEllo i just upgraded from an 7870 to the R9280X-DC2T-3GD5

I followed these steps for drivers

1. Ran Catalyst control center from C:/ AMD and did a custom uninstall. Removed all
2. Restarted computer
3. Ran Driver Fusion and deleted everything from AMD
4. Restarted computer
5. Installed latest 13.12 R9 drivers from AMD site

I get artifacts (shapes, lines , squares) flashing everywhere in screen , when in Chrome, in Dota 2 and Planetside 2. Haven't tested in more games , but I guess it will be the same.
The card will need a replacement? I have a Corsair CX600 , AMD FX 8350, Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb 1600 mhz
I read somewhere about GPU bios update. I ran the GPU ASUS TWEAK software that came in with the CD, and i tried to update something but i got a message ROM programming fail. But then it seemed to installed the update and forced me to restart the computer.
But still i get artifacts.
What do you suggest?

Maybe yours is in the 10% portion which means you had software conflicts or something software related but I doubt. Time will tell.

This is your answer? I used to have artifacts even in the KM player , in windows bar also . BF4 for example was an artifact game i cant even see the player . After this step i dont see them anymore .No artifacts at all ..... 🙂 And also my system is too old very very old !

Cpu Q6600 2,4 ghz old cpu
4 gb corsair 1333 xms3 i cant put more mobo is old
intel ssd 330 series which from him i play the games

Believe me I have done my research. The problem lies in the VRAM, you can't fix it. It was manufactured that way so the entire line is defective. You must be extremely lucky to get a card with a VRAM which handles the overclock ASUS did without adjusting the clock and volts correctly. The Matrix edition also has the same problem in lower scale tho. You can fix it lowering the volts of the VRAM but the Matrix has unlocked vBIOS.

maybe ASUS got the cards back. And they are constructing new ones by making the VRAM different. Because its a really common issue

Are the cards completely out of stock in other countries as well? None at all arrived in Czech republic in entire last month. If it's the case, maybe they are really fixing some bugs?

i think they wont produce any more of the same. They will create new ones with different VRAM timings or whatever it is.

yeah out of stock in greece as well i guess. I had sent mine for replacement and they called me and told me that they even dont know when they will get new ones. So i got a refund and got an nvidia

They are out of stock due to cryptocurrency mining. I use mine for that purpose now until I get a replacement. At least I get some bucks out of this piece of s**t.

Silva, I'm using the card on 1920x1200, DX11 and I haven't overclocked the card as it doesn't even run well on default settings.

I was considering keeping the card because on 1500 MHz mem clock and lower temps I only very occasionally got artifacts.

Unfortunately, the last few days things have gotten progressively worse. I even get artifacts in the browser now and in-game I have almost always artifacts and even restarting the game doesn't help anymore. The artifacts are clearly VRAM artifacts. I'm quite sure ASUS has been using sub-par quality VRAM on (some of) these cards.. perhaps they dropped their standards due to the litecoin hype.

I'm going to try and get rid of this piece of junk and go for Nvidea (which was my initial thought anyway), and it won't be ASUS anymore.

These cards have specific design praised by many, I don't see any reason why Asus would want to cut the branch it's sitting on.
Too bad we won't get any official statement explaining the problems.

The funny part is that the Hynix chips ASUS used for the VRAM are supposed to be high quality from those used by the other manufacturers.

shame that AMD gets bad reputation because of this, when it's ASUS's fault.
