How can I run eyefinity on the Matrix HD7970 with 3 HDMI monitors? what adapters would I need for this to run correctly? I have yet to find an active displayport to HDMI adapter. If someone knows where to find one please include link.

did a search for "active displayport to HMDI", but couldnt find one myself.

You could go with the normal DVI to HDMI adapter on both DVI ports.
Then get the active diplayport to DVI,then hook a DVI to HDMI adapter on top of that again

Sapphire do one too.

Think if you look on your cards they are mini display port connectors.

Op, please disregard HiVisMan's recommendation. It's incorrect.

The ports on the 7970 Matrix Platinum are DP, not mDP...so you need DisplayPort active adapters not Mini-DisplayPort. The adapters specifically are called DisplayPort to Single-Link DVI Active adapters. You just need one for that third port. Then get three DVI-HDMI cables to connect all three displays. My personal recommendation for the adapter would be Newegg and Monoprice for the cables.

DO NOT trust any DP to HDMI adapter unless it specifically is listed as an ACTIVE adapter. Passive adapters will not work for the #3 with Eyefinity enabled.

You connect the following way for 3x1 Eyefinity:
Video Card DP port -> Active DP to Single-Link DVI Adapter -> DVI-HDMI cable -> Display
Video Card SL-DVI port -> DVI-HDMI cable -> Display
Video Card DL-DVI port -> DVI-HDMI cable -> Display

If you'd like direct links to what to buy, send me a PM. I hope that helps.

BTW, on a seperate tangent and directed at ASUS. AMD mandated all 7900-series cards be properly supplied with active adapters for thier third display after complaints that occured by customers with the 5800 and 6900-series Eyefinity users. As the 7970 Matrix Platinum was an aftermarket design they skirted around that requirement somehow. Every other vanilla 7970 retail box has the proper single-link dvi active adapter supplied by AMD mandate. One of the two problems the Op has would have been addressed if ASUS followed AMD's mandate for this particular card.

Thank you - I have repped you for correcting my error. I incorrectly assumed that the Matrix would have the same outputs as the other HD7970 cards.

Much appreciated and again my thank.

OP my apologies for nearly leading you astray.

OP, if you gonna build eyefinity with 3x 2560 resolution monitors, you will need DP to Dual Link DVI active adaptor which is rare and expensive.

He wants HDMI connectivity so I doubt they're 2560x1440 or 2560x1600. HDMI is single-link cabling by design.

Op, please ignore the information below as I don't think it applies to your situation. It's only relevant to people who wish to run Eyefinity 3x1 using 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 displays with DVI connectivity. I wrote it to help out anyone who stumbled into the thread through the forum search function.

To elaborate on 7970 Matrix Platinum connectivity and 3x1 Eyefinity using 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 DVI port displays, you'd need two DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Active adapters. One of the DVI ports in the 7970 Matrix Platinum is SL-DVI only so you would have to shift the connection configuration to two DP ports and the one DL-DVI port. Two dual-link active adapters @ $80-100 each is quite a price to get DL-DVI port compatibility for 3x1 Eyefinity. In the case of 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 displays it would be more cost effective just to buy them with DP ports in them and do away with adapters all together. I also do not recommend the Dual-Link DVI active adapters be used. There is a history of sync drop and taring with the dual-link adapters and AMD Eyefinity configurations that goes back three generations of AMD cards. While it's a rare annoyance it does occur every once in awhile. It's best to not use DVI connectivity at all for Eyefintiy 3x1 2560 display configurations if you're buying all new equipment. DP native is the way to go. Hopefully this information is helpful to anyone that wishes to do 7680x1440 or 7680x1600 3x1 Eyefinity.
