X870E Hero problems (X2)

Good day all,

Been using these Crosshair motherboards for quite some time (dating back to around 2007 or 2008, can't remember). This is the first time I have experienced some issues with this particular line of motherboards. I ordered this MB back in October of 2024 and have been using it since the end of October 2024.

Here is what hardware is being used:

  • AMD 9900X processor (currently it is not OC) cooled by a Noctua NH-D15 chromax air cooler
  • EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 graphics card (not OC)
  • Samsung 990 Pro NVMe (2TB) with heatsink
  • Corsair Dominator Titanium Memory (64GB - currently not OC)
  • One mechanical HDD (WD Black 10TB)
  • One standard SSD (Samsung 870EVO 1TB)

OS is Windows 11 Pro with all the latest updates. Firmware is currently on 1104. I know about the update to 1203.

First problem I have dates back to about a month after the build.  The PC will boot up just fine and I can use it without issue for about 2 to 3 weeks. It will then randomly BSOD on me and will only go to the BIOS settings on restart. The NVMe installed does not show up in the BIOS at all when this happens. It is installed in the M2_1 slot. The only way to get it to boot back to the OS is force shut it down by pressing and holding the power button and then to start it up again. The first time it happened I thought it was just a random thing and that I would observe and see if it happened again. it has happened numerous times now and I thought I would reach out here for some ideas before I decide to RMA the motherboard.

Second problem I have encountered is the inability to update the driver software for the wifi 7 adapter. Currently I have a tp-link Archer TBE550E - BE9300 Wifi 7 - Bluetooth 5.4 PCIe adapter. I was able to get all the initial driver software installed on this motherboard but cannot do any updated drivers. it causes a BSOD during installation every time. I have tried 4 times with the tp-link Wifi 7 card. Only reason I want to try updating the driver is because, at pc startup, this card will randomly not connect. Only way to get it to connect again is to restart the pc. Disabling the device and re-enabling it has no effect.  Tp-link has no solution for this and wants to use the excuse that the driver software is not compatible with Windows 11 Pro. I only mention this because I was going to try and use the wifi 7 setup that came with the motherboard but I cannot even install the driver software for that either. The result is the same as the tp-link card: A BSOD during every installation attempt.

I believe that covers all my issues. Any suggestions are welcome.
