Hi all,

Recently built a new PC and getting a BSOD fairly regularly.

Specs:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9950X
GPU: ASUS GTX 4070 Super TI
MOBO: ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI (currently on 0706 bios)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 6000MTs CL30 (2x32GB)
OS: Win11 Pro

So far I have encountered 4 BSOD's over 4 weeks all related to `Usb4HostRouter.sys`. I believe these issues are not related to the other BIOS issues around EXPO for the X870E-E because I've experienced the BSOD on a few different bios versions (0606, 0706) etc. However, I have also had EXPO enabled (DOCP II or DOCP Tweaked) at all times.

The BSOD happens rarely (so far 4 times over 4 weeks) so every time I update something I wait to see if it will reoccur again in a weeks time. BSOD seemingly happens randomly, not related to load or any other pattern. I might have a non-standard setup for USB's, I plug 1 USB switcher into the into the back of my machine (standard USB3 red 10GB port). The switcher itself has a USB hub connected to it which many devices connected to it (mouse, keyboard, mic, as well as another hub) etc. The switcher lets me easily switch all USB devices from my main PC to my work laptop. This setup works fine for me on my previous build MOBO on W10.

Things I have tried:

  • In general, update all drivers possible.
  • Standard OS health checks (sfc /scannow).
  • Pretty sure all  physical components are healthy.
  • Since this is related to 'Usb4HostRouter.sys', update the USB related firmware for the MOBO to latest available versions. Also tried reinstalling all of them.

Hopefully, I'm not alone in experiencing this issue and a future USB firmware update will fix it. Open to any suggestions, thank you!

Hi....

Have you tried the latest usb driver by posted by mokichu...

https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/downloads-for-motherboards/drivers-asmedia-usb4/td-p/1045595

Howdy,

I have not tried those drivers yet.

So far I have only tried the drivers from the X870-E support page under 'firmware':
https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x870e-e-gaming-wifi/helpdesk_bios/

The next time I get the BSOD I'll try to use those drivers in the thread by mokichu.
