Windows sometimes unresponsive. X870-A

Specs:

Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX X870-A

CPU: Ryzen 9 9950x3D

GPU: MSI NVIDIA RTX 5080

COOLER: Ryujin III Extreme ARGB 360

RAM: G Skill Trident Z5 Royal NEO 2x32GB

PSU: ROG LOKI 1200W

OS: Windows 11 PRO 24H2

Ok so I've recently upgraded my whole rig. I've kept my SSD's from previous system and my GPU. Last rig was working great, no problems. Ryzen 7 5800x3D

All drivers up to date. Windows up to date.

Since changing my system I've had so many problems with software being unresponsive. Windows slowing down etc. For example I go to open a game it might take a lot of time to load up initially. More recently I've been trying to open armoury crate to set up my new cooler but I can't. It gets stuck on loading screen for a long time. It does work eventually though. AIDA64 gets stuck loading on scanning smart devices. NZXT Cam and armoury crate is not showing any data for CPU temps etc. Sometimes I can't even press the shut down button from start menu so I have to power off using the button.

Not sure if this is something to do with ASUS software or what. I've tried using a different CPU + RAM. Completely wiped my SSD and reinstalled windows. When I reinstalled windows everything was working fine for a bit but now 2 weeks later im starting to notice the same issues again. I've scanned for malware + viruses and my system showed up clean. It's been driving me mad I've tried just about everything. I suspect it could be something like a software issue or maybe my PC really is infected.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? any ideas on what I can do to fix it. reinstalling windows helped fix it but now the problems back again. Is there a permanent fix for this

Hello yamahungah

Is your memory installed in the A2-B2 slots (2nd & 4th slots from the cpu)? If yes, then all good.

First 2 easy things to try are:

1) Shut down your pc, press and hold the clear cmos button for 3 seconds. Boot up and see if things are any better.

2) If not, try updating to the latest bios for your motherboard (Bios 1512). -  ROG STRIX X870-A GAMING WIFI | ROG Strix | Gaming motherboards|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG USA

If neither doesn't help, I'm wondering if NZXT CAM and Armoury Crate aren't playing well together. Or, possibly another recent program you may have installed.

I don't see where you'd need the CAM software. Since your upgrade is still new, I might try reinstalling windows like this:

1) Install Windows.

2) Install the chipset driver for your motherboard.

3) Update the graphics driver from the Nvidia drivers website.

4) Fully update windows.

5) Install Armoury Crate.

6) Check for updates at the Armoury Crate Update Center, then check if Armoury Crate is working any better.

Does any of this help?

Hello,

Thanks for your reply I'll try out everything one at a time. Yes my RAM is in A2 + B2 slots. I've uninstalled cam now because i no longer have nzxt cooler.

I'll try clearing CMOS now to see if that helps. Then try updating bios. Will let you know how it gets on
