USB 10Gbps Hub FW Update Tool (ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI)

Has anyone had trouble unzipping ASUS_2074FWUpg3003_230830150104_V4, which, for some reason, is a .tgz file? 7-Zip is telling me that it "cannot open this file as [gzip] archive," and that the "file is open as [7z archive]."

I do get a folder that contains ASUS_2074FWUpg3003_230830150104_V4.exe, but I'm afraid to execute it because I'm not sure if it's corrupted in some way.

I just downloaded today and it unzipped ok for me. 

However, I do not plan on using it as _V5 is available listed as 2074 firmware upgrade.

Where are you seeing that? Armoury Crate?

I'm on the Bios & Firmware page for the ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI and only see Version 230830150104_V4 for the USB 10Gbps Hub FW Update Tool.

On that BIOS & Firmware link you have.  Second link down.  It says

"ASM2074：ASUS_2074FWUpg3003_230830150104_V5" 

(230830150104_V5)

That is Version 5 of the firmware

The file you are trying to unzip, "USB 10Gbps Hub FW Update Tool" is the same firmware only Version 4

(230830150104_V4).

You won't need the firmware you are trying to unzip as the one above is newer.

Oh, duh. I didn't realize "ASM2074：ASUS_2074FWUpg3003_230830150104_V5" and "USB 10Gbps Hub FW Update Tool" were for the same hardware.

So what are the firmware ASM 2074 and ASM 4242 for?  and would both need to be installed?

You will want to update both. ASM 2074 is for the USB 3.2 Contoller, and the ASM 4242 is for the USB 4.0 Controller. Update both.
