Hi all,
After a clean Windows 11 Pro installation all USB ports work fine and I tested with up to 4 flashdrives and 1 external SSD (all Samsung) simultaneously. But not long after- or after a reboot the flashdrive is: 1. not recognized at all or 2. only as a drive letter (so no contents or size available of the USB stick). At that point all USB ports freeze. Windows drive management is not available, desktop icons freeze and I’m not able to close Windows in a regular way.
However, my USB keyboard, mouse and WD 2TB storage device all keep working fine despite the other ports freezing. I tried different BIOS versions ( 0604 / 0804 / 1101 / currently on 1203), updated the firmware as required and updated the AMD chipset drivers. No succes.
If I insert a USB flashdrive right after POST or during ROG bootlogo the flash drive is recognized by Windows, is useable and ejectable via Windows. Does anyone recognize this problem or any tips?

Hy,
I have the same MB. I had problems with the USB-C Ports. The USB-A Ports working just fine.
Did you already update the USB Firmware? Downloadable via BIOS/Firmware Support Page (https://rog.asus.com/de/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x870e-e-gaming-wifi/helpdesk_bios/)
I also turned off the possibility of the operatingsystem to turn the device into energy saving mode on all USB Controller Devices in the Device Manager (on usb Devices where possible (under USB-Controller in the tree)).
After this steps the usb Ports worked for me.
I hope this can help you too.
Best regards!

Hi Dragoon007, thanks for your fast reply. I updated the firmware and switched off all energy saving options on host controllers but unfortunately no luck yet. Both Samsung 64Gb and 1TB external SSD are only seen as driveletter without content. I have a Philips fat32 formatted stick what is always seen by the USB ports. Maybe strange, but possibly this has to do with the Samsung brand. See below pic of Philips and Samsung stick. I will order another brand (i.e. Sandisk) and try that out. Many thanks for your help so far!
Kind regards

Different brand of stick didn't do the trick so I guess another USB problem for Asus to solve hopefully.
