ROG STRIX X870E-E BIOS 1512 - User Experience Thread

So, we just got another new BIOS in the form of v1512 😀 .

The release notes:

1.Updated AGESA to ComboAM5 PI 1.2.0.3e for upcoming CPU compatibility.
2.Enhanced system performance and stability.
3.Important: This update is irreversible. Rolling back to older BIOS versions is not supported.

Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (A5557.CAP) using BIOSRenamer.

^ No. 3 seems like a really important note. This BIOS is the POINT OF NO RETURN 😱 .

That said, I had no issues updating to 1512 from 1504. Everything seems to be working fine as before. I tried a cold boot and, as with 1504, memory training only occurred once after updating the BIOS and now I can boot to Windows in 30 seconds or so.

Since this includes yet another new AGESA version, I ran a couple of quick benchmarks which indicate that performance remained the same (very small deviations within tolerance).

- 3D Mark Speed Way: 14,621 (v1512) vs. 14,628 (v1504)
- 3D Mark Steel Nomad: 14,242 (v1512) vs. 14,206 (v1504)
- Cinebench 2024 Single Core: 135 points (don't have 1504 score)
- Cinebench 2024 Multi Core: 1351 points (don't have 1504 score)

System: ASUS ROG STRIX 870E-E (obviously 😆 ), AMD 9800X3D, 64GB (2x32GB) RAM Kingston FURY Beast DDR5-6000/CL30, RTX 5090@576.66

An irreversible bios.  Subscribed!!  I'm still on 1103 beta, and about to go to 1504.

2 updates in one month implies some serious bug fixes.

But 1504 is working fine for me.

Going to wait for some feedback from others before I update.

Is it really stable at expo 1 or 2?

I have same memory  but 9950 x .

Thank you

I have a 9950x and 2 kits of Kingston Fury Beast RGB 64GB. So 4x32GB.

It took me a while to get everything stable. I'm using EXPO II and running the memory at 4000MT/s.

I have a thread where I explore getting my PC stable here: https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/amd-800-series/rog-crosshair-x870e-hero-memory-compatibility-problems-...

You have 6400 mhz , so most cpu can't  always handle the uclk or they have to run at 1:2 mode , 6000 mhz should be stable at cl 30 at 1.4v

That's a solid 'yes' for me. I have never had a problem with my memory kit (Kingston FURY Beast 2x 32GB DDR5-6000/CL30) on any BIOS version. It has always simply worked by enabling the 'EXPO I' profile, everything else on 'Auto'.

I really need to read some good feedbacks to change my current (1303) bios to this one honestly 🙂 (X870E Hero)

"Important: This update is irreversible" This is scary af ngl.

Also a Crosshair Hero here. I was one of the affected users who had major issues (memory training on every boot, bootloops, occasionally repair bootloop, couldn't get into windows) , so I rolled back to 1401 and everything is fine now.

Seeing as this update is irreversible, I'll hold off of updating for the foreseeable future.

Considering this is "irreversible", Asus needs to be more forthcoming about what specifically is fixed or upgraded in this update.
