No BIOS video ultrawide

This issue is driving me insane. I have a ProArt X870E Mainboard with a 7950x3d and a 4090, I’m not getting any video signal on my ultrawide in the BIOS or during Post. Only when the OS is loaded I get video. My monitor is a Samsung OLED G9 Ultrawide display. First I thought the issue would be the display, but then I tried it with another setup (Intel based with 3090) and bios etc. showed up fine, which led me to believe the issue must be the Mainboard/bios. Here’s what I already tried to fix the issue

- Use NVIDIA tool to update 4090 UEFI

- update bios

- reset display

- reset bios, clear cmos

- enable csm (with this I got video, but this isn’t a viable solution since it breaks other features like resize bar)

- reseat the graphics card

- installing different os

- different DisplayPort cable

- disable igpu

- make sure primary video is set to PCIE

I would really really appreciate any help with this problem

It finally got fixed - Samsung dropped a system and firmware update for the monitor which fixed the issue completely.

Same problem on DP or HDMI?

AMD 9800X3D
Asus X870E Hero

2 x Samsung 980Pro 1TB
1 x 10TB WD Black
Asus Strix RTX 4090 OC
CoolerMaster C700M

Exact same behavior with both HDMI and DisplayPort.

I have the x870e-e using a Samsung 49" Neo G9.  When in bios the entire screen is used and this occurred by default.  I'm using Display Port.  As a suggestion, my mb bios has a setting found under Tools.  It is called "Full HD Setup".  The manual states that when enabled, this feature provides 1920x1080 resolution for BIOS Setup.  Don't know if this will help in your situation but look for it when you do get into your bios.

Already had it enabled and sadly doesn’t help. Thanks though!

M2 slot 2 & 3 share PCIE with the GPU.  Some folks have had in issue with certain NVME drives in those slots (GPU issues and disappearing drives), Moving to M2 slots 4 or 5 helped.

I did this only to have 16x for the main PCIe slot with Gen4.  I never used the bifurcation setting, it is not meant for a user like me.

Gen4 drives are fast enough.  It is easy to get +7000 R/W in the 4 and 5 M2 slots.  I set both chipsets at Gen4 as well.

Yeah, tried different ports and cables. Any other ideas?

Experiencing no BIOS display with ultrawide monitors is common. Solutions include disabling Fast Boot, enabling CSM, or using HDMI instead of DisplayPort. Probably won’t be helpful here but I had a somewhat similar issue 2 days ago. My PC froze when playing game. Upon reboot, could hear I was at logon screen but no display. I’m using DP. Connected a different monitor to the hdmi port, with same issue. As I recall I could still see bios in either display. In the end I had to reinstall Windows from a usb drive using the built-in integrated graphics. Once in Windows as I was installing drivers (not nvidia driver yet), still no G9 display. I had the G9 connected but using another monitor to do the work through the integrated graphics. At some point on a reboot, the G9 showed up as an extended display. Eventually I installed latest Nvidia driver and disconnected the “primary” display connected to the integrated graphics. Upon reboot my system was off to the races.

I can’t put a finger on what caused this issue. I suspect it was a corrupted nvidia driver (which was the latest) but could have been something else scewing up Windows. Clearly something was going on with my graphics card. It was a bit scary as I thought I lost my graphics card. Only time will tell.

My system: x870e-e, 9800x3d, rtx 5080, Corsair Dominator Titanium memory 4x16

It finally got fixed - Samsung dropped a system and firmware update for the monitor which fixed the issue completely.
