Hello everyone,
I would like to build a new PC which I would like to use for work and games.
I now have a question about the compatibility of the ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO.
I read here that the X870E chipset/boards provides 44 PCIe lanes:
20 x PCIe 5.0 from the CPU (x16 for the GPU and x4 for the SSD)
4 x PCIe 4.0 from the CPU
12 x PCIe 4.0 lanes on the chipset
8 x PCIe 3.0 lanes on the chipset.
I would now like to use the following:
1x GPU
1x 5.0 SSD
2x 4.0 SSD
1x sound card (Sound Blaster AE-7)
From the specifications of the X870E this should theoretically work and also from the connections of the ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO (as far as I have seen).
Has anyone here had any experience? If so, have there been any problems, or any other suggestions for me?
Kind regards

Hi...
I have the crosshair hero x870e...
You can use m.2_1,m.2_4 and m.2_5 without affecting the top pcie slot 1, so m.2 drive wise you will be fine
The only issue you will face is that using the 2nd pcie slot (for your Sound Blaster AE-7) will drop the 1st pcie slot to x8....

Thank you Katana1074,
I did not realice that the Mainboard had 2 16xPCIe 5.0 Slots.
I think I will look for another Mainboard sadly.
With kind regards
