I'm having issues with Crucial T705 2TB nvme ssd gen5 on asus rog strix x870e-e gaming wifi mobo.
System is new and I only use m2_1 slot. Plugged ssd and installed windows. Then system suddenly restarted and bios came up to screen. The ssd was gone at bios. Then powered off and on my pc. Windows came up and ssd was there. After 5-10 minutes later, a bsod occured and pc suddenly restarted again to bios and ssd was gone again. Same situation always happened again and again. Then I sent my ssd to where I bought it. They replaced and sent different serial numbered(last 2 numbers differ) Crucial T705. But same problem occured. I sent new ssd again to seller and gave up using T705. But I wanted them to send me crucial T700 with heatsink and the leftover money. They told me ok. Now I am waiting for my new ssd T700.
If same problem occurs and because of ssd, I will give up using Crucial ssd's. If problem is because of mobo, I will give up using asus mobos. I'm tired of this situation! I tried same port with my friends corsair (gen3) 4tb ssd, that worked like a charm. I dont know what the real problem is and I don't have any other ssd to test. I also tested my ssd at all m2 slots. Nothing changed.
Is the issue because of Ssd, or mobo's gen5 thing?
My system:
Asus rog strix x870e-e gaming wifi, amd ryzen 7 9800x3d cpu, gskill trident z5 2x24mb dual ram kit, asus tuf 1200w psu, corsair icue h150i elite lcd xt cpu cooler, haf700evo case. No gpu yet, I am going onboard vga, waiting to buy rtx5080 after solving this issue.

Hi. My issue is solved replacing my T705 ssd, with T700(heatsinked model). 5 hours of operating, no issue occured. I tried my bios default settings and the tried expo 1 configuration. Both no problem. But only one thing annoying me that, T700 idle heat is about 50 degrees celcius. While applying crystal disk mark test, it raised up to 78 degrees with warning. I ordered a dual fanned heat sinked from a global web site, and I will change T700's heat sink with it. As to comply, I did not like crucial T7xx gen5 ssds in general because of heat and disappearing issues. T7xx series really have fast read/write speeds, but with issues; NO, I DON'T PREFER !

Did you check the temperature of the ssd when it was working?

Yes of course. In aida 64, while appending crystal disk mark read&write tests, it shows healty and about 40-60 degrees celcius depending on tests. Sometimes pc restarted to bios while testing and ssd was gone again. But that did not depend on heat. When I manually restart from windows, generally bsod comes to screen and quickly goes to bios itself and ssd disappeares again. Sometimes, restarting itself when not doing anything and same issue occurs. My new system is having fun with me! I hope it enjoys this.

Here is something to try while you wait for your new SSD. My set up is very similar to yours and it helped some. Please let me know if you see any improvements at all after doing these steps.
Let me know how that goes. I have a theory about what's going on, and I may have to end up RMA this board, so the more info I have the better.
Note: these steps work in the latest BIOS ver. 1003, so you may need to update yours if something doesn't exactly match my instructions.

I have bios ver. 1003. But changing 'PCIEX16(G5) Bandwidth Bifurcation Configuration' from "Auto" to "PCIE X16 Mode" will do nothing I think, because ssd uses 4 lanes by default with gen5. I will try but I don't think that will solve the issue. We have 16 lanes and ssd will use 4. If we route all 16 lanes to 1 ssd, it again will use 4 lanes. This is like plugging a usb 3.2 to usb 2.0 port. Usb 2.0 will not use 3.2 speeds. But if problem persists still, I will try your theory as well.

I have this EXACT same problem, but with Kingston fury renegade 4TB gen4. I was playing Cyberpunk all day yesterday, left my pc in sleep modus and went to sleep. I woke up to my pc in bios screen, and found that my bios wasn't detecting my SSD in the M2_1 slot at all. Moved it to M2_3 and it was detected. Moved it back, changed m2_1 LINK to "gen4", then it worked. Left my pc in windows for a while (20 minutes maybe). I got back on my pc to find my monitor was shut off and motherboard had a white light on it. I restarted it, got into Bios and aaaand once more, SSD not detected... I did a lot in the bios that I won't go into right now but yeah 😕

Keep an eye on its heat when idle and right after gaming. If it is hot, get a dual fanned heat sink and apply to ssd. If not too hot change your ssd with another brand or model. Before I bought dual fanned active ssd cooler, idle temp was 51 celcius. After buying that, the temp is 36. The diff is 15 degrees celcius. In my opinion, buy a new one without heat sink on it, and apply that 2 fanned cooler to ssd.

Thing is, my BIOS won't detect it now at all. I could try to let it all cool for a bit then try again but for now, ill try my brothers SSD and see if it works there.

My condolences for your ssd 😔
