I am a long time pc builder. Been exclusively on Asus products since Abit bit the dust a long time ago. Anyways, my adult son has been in need of a new rig and he lives out of town. I planned father and son weekend next week and I am flying to Boston to:
1) visit him and
2) help him build a new gaming pc.
I skimmed the reviews and ordered all the parts that are delivering directly to his door. Plan was to hang out and build the pc over a few beers. I had such a great experience with my own Strix X670E 9700X3D build last year that I didn't dig much deeper. But wow I see all these headaches and I only have a few days to get him up and running.
X870E-E/ 9800X3D/ 4070 Ti Super/ Gskill 2x16 DDR5 6000 off the QVL/ 2 x WD Black SN850s/ ETC
Does anyone have a plug and play X870E-E system here? I see an aweful lot of EXPO issues, undercooked BIOS releases, disappearing NVMe drives, network issues, and USB drop outs. I mean there seems to be a lot of issues out there. Not sure if I should tell him to just ship everything back unopened. I do not want spend my entire 3 day visit trouble shooting gremlins only to leave him with an unworkable system.
When I was more active on the forums I used to say that trouble threads congregate in the fourms and it is a bad indicator. And if this was my own build I would just struggle through it on my own time. But this chatter has me spooked with me doing an out of town build. Anyone running without all the issues?

Running the same build here with the 870-E Strix Board and no issues with the latest 1003 bios and my gSkill Ram is running perfectly on EXPO I. Only issue is i should not have directly upgraded to Win 11 H24H2 build because some of my games dont play well but I did get a copy of H23H2 and will probably look to reload it once I can get my hand on a ASUS RTX 5080 card which is the next hill to conquer.

Hope if my short answer will help you, but I am also long time builder and I recently upgraded to AM5 straight to x870 and aloo 9800X3D. So my experience was plug and play. NO USB hiccups, bios was fine for me, since I know a lot asus bioses, I got few problems with my NON EXPO ram to get highest speed as possible but after knowing few new features I was able to get 8000mt/s with tight latency, but this particular task was struggle but also fun!
Some user getting some wrong approach, after new bios it´s neccesary to get correc chipset driver, about nvme I did not occur any issue, my rig has 3 of them and one is high end gen5 ssd. There was issue with some monitoring third party stuff but bios have workaround it´s called monitoring software workaround 😄 something like that, it´s late to dig for correct name, but! Use search in bios, this is crucial, coz I did not find many feat of bios so this is good. Long booting times? Easy to turn off latency check, called memory restore (just search bios). It´s not short after all. I recommend x870 and a I can say work as a charm.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I know my post was long and a bit odd. But reading your response has me encouraged. I hope there are many of you with the same positive experience.

So far so good for me running the 1003 Bios. 9800x3d, Corsair 96Gb 5400MHz Ram. I was experiencing the USB Hiccup on the beta bios version but it seems to have disappeared on the latest update. Abit early to tell though but so far so good.

Hi man, Im old pc builder/gamer too. Two months ago I have buld brand new pc with Rog Strix X870F Gaming WiFi/9800X3D/2x24 8200 Patriot Viper Extreme 5/RTX4080 and here is my experience:
1. Update latest BIOS (1003 for JAN 31 works good and EXPO/DOCP overclocking profiles works good too)
2. Do not insall Armory Crate utility. Heavy, useless(IMHO) and hard to fully clean it.
3. For RGB configuration Im using build-in "Windows dynamic lights"
Cheers

Hello, honestly, with the latest BIOS, I haven't had any issues beyond not being able to run EXPO at 6000 MT/s (it always boots, but it generates some errors in OCCT that make me doubt its stability). Other than that, I have two SSDs (a 1TB T705 and a 4TB 990 Pro), and likewise, zero issues. I keep Armoury Crate installed to sync the GPU and motherboard effects with iCue, but aside from that, rock solid. If you're having issues, check the EXPO profiles—all my problems were related to that.
Ah, I forgot to mention it: I have a 9900X instead of a 9800X3D, but overall, I don’t think it changes the situation much in terms of stability.

Are you running 6000 MT/s manually versus EXPO, or are you running it on Auto or slower speeds manually?
Thank you.

Using the AI Tweak, but setting the memory frequency. Attach a image for reference.
