x670e extreme

Hi all, I opened this new discussion because I noticed that many users with this card and perhaps also with others of the x670e series are having problems with the thunderbolt ports, slowdowns in acquiring information when running programs such as hwmonitor cpuz or simply when starting windows when background programs are loaded to control fan led etc.

The problem can only be solved by disabling the thunderbolt ports from the bios. "Bios>Advanced>AMD PBS> Thunderbolt / USB4 Support" It would be helpful to know if you are taking steps to fix via bios or drivers, or do we have to send our boards back to make a refund?

Thanks for the quick reply, so you're saying that a clean install and the chipset drivers always taken from that post could solve the problem? For me it's not a problem to do a clean install again, just out of curiosity can you tell me the manufacturing date of your motherboard? written on the box where there is also the serial number ... thank you

One last thing, when was your motherboard built? You can look at it on the box where there is the serial number. Thanks

I update my situation, I tried to install all the drivers as the maxrealiti user did but unfortunately the problem persists ... in my case it doesn't work...

Thanks anyway

Wanted to respond to that topic sooner but the captcha was broken.

To "solve" this issue I recommend to follow this
Extreme lag when Scanning PCI Bus with Above 4G De... - AMD Community

" It's caused by scanning the PCI bus when thunderbolt controller is sleeping. When I disable "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" for thunderbolt controller, I no longer have this problem."

so in the Device Manager go to System Devices and then pick the Thunderbolt controller and then power management? sorry have a german OS installed. Then Uncheck the checkbox that the device can go to sleep. so CPU-Z, HWinfo and so on will stop to freeze the system

This fixed the laggy system for me

(I correct myself, the check doesn't have to be there)

oh yes, actually so it goes from god... apart from the keys, I don't have devices connected to the thunderbolt, by chance have you tried if by inserting something everything works correctly? I wonder why this delay happens... maybe the ports are off and when you ask them to reconnect you create an information delay... it would be useful for someone with more knowledge on the subject to explain why...
If everything works as it should, this could be the solution to your problem!

I also only have "normal" USB devices on the normal 3.2 ports.
But I was fazing that strange laggy behavior and found the AMD Community post mentioned in my previous post.
I tried that and it went away... since that I have mostly forgot about that topic.
But as soon as you reinstall Windows you will run into that issue again until you disable the sleep state of thunderbolt again
