Hi all, was wondering if anyone was having issues upgrading from a 7800x3d to 9800x3d. Updated to latest 2506 bios prior to install and swapped out the CPUs, and installed the latest AMD chipset. The 9800x3d seems to be working at stock, but once I enable expo 1 OC settings, it goes completely unstable, games crashing at launch, blue screens galore. Think it has to do with RAM, but I had a completely stable system with the 7800x3d. My ram is the G.skill trident F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR, and it's definitely been on the support memory list for quite some time.
Anyone with similar issues?

Swapped out a 7950X yesterday and 9800X3D is fast and stable, on EXTREME Board. Almost same memory but 64GB F5-6000 CL32 stable on EXPOII and running 6000Hz. Reporting 9800X3D is just a hair under the 7950X in AIDA64 tests.

Thanks for the reply, I wonder if there we be any difference using expo II instead of I. I'll have to test when I get home, otherwise its back to the 7800x3d for the meantime.

Hi @chapsui
EXPO II might help, yes. Should have less aggressive subtimings.
I currently don't have a 9800X3D or had the chance to interact with one yet.

Running a similar setup, X670E-I on BIOS 3057, moved from 7950X3D to 9800X3D. System won’t post no matter what I try.

What qcode are you getting on your motherboard? Might be doing memory learning and you just have to let it finish? Just a guess.

That's what I would've thought too but the system would stay on the orange light for about 2 minutes before shutting itself off.
Flashed to a 2 month old BIOS (3024 for X670E-I), which posted fine. Kept moving to a newer and newer BIOS and eventually the latest (3057) also posted fine. Can't really think of a reason this happened but glad to be up and running.

I'll give that a try this weekend. Microcenter said something similar after I had them bench test my CPU - think they had an Asrock board - and it posted fine, just hadn't had time to try yet.

Stepped upgrade of BIOS worked great for me. 9800x3d running stable on TUF Gaming X670-E with G Skill memory at 6000, EXPO-I, PBO, and -20 offset.
