X670E-A won't post on reboot, RAM LED stays lit

I recently upgraded to a 9950X3D on my X670E-A motherboard alongside some new RAM (on the QVL, GSkill F5-6400J3239F24GX2-TZ5NR 2x24gb), so I had to upgrade the BIOS to 2904 and then did the swap. I did not enable EXPO, this is still running at stock memory settings.

Since then, my computer will run perfectly fine, boots normally, but cannot reboot. If I reboot, it'll get stuck on the yellow (RAM) LED seemingly forever. I think it once managed to POST after over 30 minutes. If I shut the computer down normally, it boots quickly as normal.

I'm going to try to track down some other RAM to test quickly if that's the problem, but I can't realistically swap the CPU or motherboard to isolate the issue. I also updated the BIOS to 3003 hoping to fix it, but no dice unfortunately.

Did anyone run into something similar?

Hi @FriendlyFire

1. Try enabling Monitoring Software reboot Workaround in the UEFI (Use search function)

2. Reseat CPU, inspect CPU pin-pad and socket for any debris or damaged pins

3. Remount the cooler whilst ensuring even mounting pressure

4. Insert one memory module into slot A2

Retest and report back

Well I can scarcely believe it but your very first suggestion fixed it instantly! Enabling Monitoring Software Reboot Workaround cut down the RAM step to less than a second on reboot, same as from a fresh boot. With this out of the way, I can try to see if I can get a stable EXPO setup.

Many thanks!

No worries, glad that helped.

I agree with SS above.  I would due a CPU reseat and Cooler remount to eliminate those issues.

Another trick with high end memory is to enable EXPO but set your memory speed manually.  Allow EXPO to set the memory timings but slow your kit down to 6000 or below. This worked for me once when I was caught in the forever memory training loop.
