ill use this thread to collect some new test bioses for the boards, maybe also to explain some less understood options
to disable cores ccd go here and choose ccd xx bit map down core.
each ones stand for an enabled core
best to disable from the back, ie:
110000
instead of 0011000
after selection press downcore apply changes or discard if made mistake
ocpak/octools
FAQ:
7950x not boosting pass 5.5G -> check that CStates is not disabled
Detailed Explanation on CState Boot Limiter
Test BIOSes:
new:
X3D OC Preset for those MB with asynch BCLK Support: (for simple slight perf boost for X3D)
DOCP/EXPO Tweaked: (for simple timings tightening)
strixe-e 1515
for crosshair and strix e-e:
explanation of segment2 Loadline:
customize a heterogenous loadline for a dual segment workload range.
example above shows loadline=L6 when current is in range of 0~40A, and Level4 when current is above 40A.
Adds for x3d
dynamic ccd priority switch with core flex, os / driver agnostic so win10 win11 ok
Algo as follows:
If condition reached and ccd0 specified, then check current mem/cache activity > threshold and hysteresis reached, if fulfilled then switch
If condition reached and ccd1 specified, then check current mem/cache activity <=threshold and hysteresis reached,, if fulfilled then switch
Default hysteresis =4
Can combine multiple algos for ccd priority so combinations are wide
works on non x3d too but of course senseless on it. detailed explanation here.

Running 2604 without issue with EXPO Tweaked
initial boot up seems to take more time than usual but everything working as should.

Looks like MSI might be testing a beta BIOS post-AGESA 1.2.0.2b that may address this (as of Dec 13).
"Improved overclocking capability for high-density DDR5 memory module." (from the X870E Carbon page)
Hopefully ASUS gets something out soon, as well, to address the issues with BIOS versions 2604 and 0706.
I just got my system at the end of November, and trying to test components at the SAME TIME an unstable BIOS was one of the variables has been quite the annoyance.

I’ve noticed that even even I enable power down mode on dram timings it says it’s disabled on zen timings and ryzen master. I’ve got a ROG Strix 870e-e on 0706. Bug or power down mode not actually on?

Do you have Fast Boot Enabled in Boot Configuration?
I belive with Ryzen 9000 Series chip you need fast boot enabled to run PD enabled. 👍

Why would you enable power down mode? Do you want less performance?

You want to turn power down mode on so you can use memory context restore. That is the best feature in the BIOS. It prevents you waiting 1 minute every boot to see something on the screen. Miracle.

Except it doesn't apply to the 9000 series. You can in fact turn off power down mode and enable memory context restore at the same time for Zen 5.

Some Ryzen 7000 CPUs will not boot into Windows with memory frequency 8000MTs running GDM, MCR, or power down disabled.

Fast boot on. I want to enable power down mode to see if it fixes my random boot stutter, as I know previously some boards had problems if only memory context restore was on but power down was off.

I still don't have answer for my question from someone from asus so I want to ask you guys few questions because of my swap from 7950x3d to 9800x3d. Small info - mobo strix 670e-e and newest bios with 1:2 2x24GB 7600MHz memory. Custom water loop on cpu (3x360 rad).
1 - which settings in bios are recommended for 9800X3D for best performance ?
2 - which PBO / PBO enhancement 90*C/80*C is recommended ?
I tested some stability/performance settings in bios and I was little scared at first.
PBO - enabled - max temperatures 90*C+ and high voltages on cpu - mostly the best performance
PBO enhancement 90*C - a bit better temperatures and voltages but not much - similar performance
(I used it on 7950X3D and it was best without weird high temperatures on 8 more cores)
PBO enhancement 80*C - much, much lower temperatures and voltages - performance about 1-3% less
(the only safe setting now for my 9800X3D)
Medium load bostit - hmmm zero affect on performance/temps ?
Core tuning configuration for gaming - zero preformance gains - legacy is the same as auto, 1= bad, 2=even worse
My typical settings now with 9800X3D are:
- DDR5 XMP 7600MHz lowered from 8000MHz
- power down mode and memory context restore - enabled
- PBO enhanacemnt 80*C
- medium load bostit - enabled
- manual VSOC to 1,15V
- disabled audio/wifi/bluetooth/intagrated gpu
- rest of settings - auto from bios/xmp
Any advices ?
