ill use this thread to collect some new test bioses for the boards, maybe also to explain some less understood options
to disable cores ccd go here and choose ccd xx bit map down core.
each ones stand for an enabled core
best to disable from the back, ie:
110000
instead of 0011000
after selection press downcore apply changes or discard if made mistake
ocpak/octools
FAQ:
7950x not boosting pass 5.5G -> check that CStates is not disabled
Detailed Explanation on CState Boot Limiter
Test BIOSes:
new:
X3D OC Preset for those MB with asynch BCLK Support: (for simple slight perf boost for X3D)
DOCP/EXPO Tweaked: (for simple timings tightening)
strixe-e 1515
for crosshair and strix e-e:
explanation of segment2 Loadline:
customize a heterogenous loadline for a dual segment workload range.
example above shows loadline=L6 when current is in range of 0~40A, and Level4 when current is above 40A.
Adds for x3d
dynamic ccd priority switch with core flex, os / driver agnostic so win10 win11 ok
Algo as follows:
If condition reached and ccd0 specified, then check current mem/cache activity > threshold and hysteresis reached, if fulfilled then switch
If condition reached and ccd1 specified, then check current mem/cache activity <=threshold and hysteresis reached,, if fulfilled then switch
Default hysteresis =4
Can combine multiple algos for ccd priority so combinations are wide
works on non x3d too but of course senseless on it. detailed explanation here.

Ok, makes sense. Is there an add-in PCI-E card for USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 you would recommend that could get the job done? Appreciate all the help!
Also, is the resolved in the X870 Hero?

X870E Hero Support USB4 because of internal AS-Media Chip.
Thunderbolt needs a Header on Motherboard and a Intel Chipset (500 or later) with Support CPU because of Security. AMD Support no Thunderbolt Security according License.

I confirm release of final bios, 2506 loaded now on X670E Hero, no problem to report, identical to BETA 2505.

Yeah, it looks like Asus has officially released these bios for many of the boards. It's on the Strix E-E board's page now.

WARNING: 2506 is busted and causes Memory Power Down to always stay disabled, despite what it says in the BIOS settings (including after rolling back to 2505 or 2403), meaning you cannot use Memory Context Restore without crashing systematically.
I posted a detailed report about it earlier today, but the forums apparently "ate it up" and it does not show !

Not using the memory context restore because my PC runs 24/24 and preferring stability, I have just tested by reactivating memory context restore and memory power dawn in the 2 separate menus, and on X670E HERO with bios 2506 for my part it works perfectly, as we can see on my Zentimings capture, power dawn is on enabled, the boot time is divided by 2.

Well, not the same memory (mine is Kingston Furry Beast 6000MT/s 2x32GB)... Perhaps it could be the explanation. Maybe ASUS changed their "EXPO tweaked" settings for my memory and it would override MPD for it ?... But then, why won't I be able revert to former EXPO tweaked settings WITH MPD enabled with BIOS 2505 or 2403 ?...
Here is Zentimings with BIOS 2204 (i.e. with working MPD) for my RAM:

Indeed, apart from your RAM, I don't see what could be the explanation, especially if it worked before up to 2505.
Have you tried on bios 2506 to bring everything back to default for the RAM without activating EXPO but by activating only the memory context restore and the power dawn see if it works?
For info I only use EXPO 2.

I spent 6 hours already, and now I must make up for all that time I lost. So no more experimentation for me, and until ASUS comes up with a new BIOS or a reply to my issue.
It was my intention to upgrade my 7900X to a 9950X (just waiting for the prices to come down after the 9800X3D release), and with this new bug, I'm going to put this on a hold (if I can't get a proper BIOS with working MCR for 9000 CPUs, then better not buying a new CPU). 😞
I am frankly extremely disappointed with ASUS. I've been building PCs for the past 30 years, with pretty much every mother board brand (including ASUS back in the Pentium days), but I never seen such a mess with BIOS bugs (even if part of them are also AMD's fault).
The rationale behind buying an ASUS MB, this time was: "OK, it costs me an arm, but it will last me at least 5 years, and ASUS is super-duper-top-premium, right ?..." Well, not so much, no. 😞

I see no other reports of issues with MCR. How are you testing the memory stability prior to trying to enable it?
