Trouble running 128GB (2x64GB kits) at full speed on ProArt B650 Creator – need advice

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing some issues getting my full RAM configuration to run at its advertised speed, and I would appreciate any help or insight.

🔧 My system configuration:

  • Motherboard: ASUS ProArt B650 Creator (latest BIOS version installed)

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X

  • RAM: 2 kits of G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB (F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR), for a total of 128GB (4x32GB)

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3090

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro

  • Cooling: Custom air cooling (temps are stable) artic liquid freezer pro 360 III

💡 Issue:

When using all 4 DIMMs (128GB total), my system fails to boot if I try to enable EXPO at 6000 MHz or even at lower speeds like 5600 or 5200 MHz.
The only stable configuration I’ve found is by disabling EXPO entirely and manually setting the memory frequency to 3600 MHz — which works fine, but obviously far from optimal.

My question:

Is there any way to get closer to 6000 MHz (or even 5200–5600) with this configuration?
Are there specific BIOS settings (voltages, DRAM timings, high DRAM voltage mode, etc.) I should try adjusting manually to improve compatibility and stability at higher speeds?

I understand that using 4 DIMMs can be more demanding on the memory controller, but I’d really like to get the most out of this hardware if possible.

Thanks in advance for your support!

Best regards,

Hi @zattone

In short, don't combine or mix memory kits. Even if they are the same part number.

You can find more information here

Remove one kit and attempt to enable XMP using a single memory kit in slots A2 and B2

There is a combination of factors that can help to stabilize, I also recommend looking at the oc forum.

You can try contacting the memory manufacturer's support to help resolve the issue.
