Last week I received the first set of my new PC: ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F GAMING WIFI and two SSD m.2 . Both are PCI Express 4.0 x4 and I have a AMD Ryzen 7800X3D processor. One of 1TB and one of 4TB. The OS is installed on those of 1TB and games on those of 4TB.
Now the 4TB one is slightly faster than the 1TB one. I see the following in the manual about the m.2 locks
Total supports 3 x M.2 slots and 4 x SATA 6Gb/s ports*
AMD Ryzen™ 9000 & 7000 Series Desktop Processors
M.2_1 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280 (supports PCIe 5.0 x4 mode)
M.2_2 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode)
AMD Ryzen™ 8000 Series Desktop Processors
M.2_1 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode)
M.2_2 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 mode)**
AMD B650 Chipset
M.2_3 slot (Key M), type 2242/2260/2280/22110 (supports PCIe 4.0 x4 mode)***
4 x SATA 6Gb/s port
* AMD RAID Xpert Technology supports both NVMe RAID 0/1/10 and SATA RAID 0/1/10.
**Specification varies by CPU types.
*** M.2_3 slot shares bandwidth with PCIe 4.0 x16 slot (supports x4 mode) When M.2_3 slot is operating in PCIe mode, M.2_3 will be disabled.
Which slot is best to use for the 1TB and which for the 4TB?
