Rog strix X670e-e 7800x3d

Hi,

I recently installed the 7800x3d into my brand new rog strix x670e-e board updated to the latest bios 1004. For the most part all smooth, but I've noticed that regardless of bios settings (Stock vs. PBO), that my all core clocks don't push past 4650mhz in cinebench R23. Has anyone else noticed this issue with the 7800x3d or other 3d vcache CPUs?

Appreciate any insight!

1)set Expo 1

2)enable PBO

3)enable curve optimizer - all cores

4) set CO to minus 30

In today's video, I overclock the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Raphael CPU up to 5400 MHz with the ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E Hero motherboard and EK custom loop water cooling. In an ironic twist of events, I find that the direct successor of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, this Ryzen 7 7800X3D, is the most tunable X3D

Appreciate the response, unfortunately not quite relevant to my issue. Seems like regardless of BIOS settings between EXPO, manual curve, and enabling PBO, my CPU doesn't boost past 5050mhz. Feels like something on the mobo is limiting the core clock and I have no idea what it could be.

This is strange. Out of the box it should boost to about 4800mhz if properly cooled. Have you plugged both CPU 8 pins into the motherboard ?

How are temps during that Cinebench R23 run ?

Ya really weird, but just to update the initial post. I ended up with two 7800x3d chips. The first is what I reference in my initial post not boosting past 4650 in cinebench. Tried different ram set, but no change. Swapped out the chip to a different 7800x3d and I was able to finally boost to 4850 all cores in cinebench stock settings. When I enable expo I and PBO, with -30 curve, I can only get up to 4950 all core boost in cinebench. The temps regardless of stock vs. PBO hovers around 82-83c (around 45-48c at idle). I've seen other examples of builds boosting well past that, so I'm a little lost. Not sure if I just need to swap out the board, which I'm kinda apprehensive to do since the system is stable and I really only use it for 4k gaming.

4850mhz all core boost is expected behavior. Those chips don't overclock well at all.

Don't push your luck, focus on having a stable system.

Agreed!

Hello guys,

According to this article there are three ways to overclock your 7800x3d cpu.

In the table of contents, scroll down to the 6th listing, "O.C. Strategy."

In my case, I have a x670E TUF WIFI and my cpu acts exactly the same way. I have to use PBO enhancement to get my 7800x3d to boost anywhere near the expected 4850mhz. Fresh install of Win 11 and BIOS and still PBO does nothing. I'm even custom liquid cooling and my cpu never goes above 75c, so not sure what's up. The single core boost is also very unstable, average around 4900mhz, but does occasionally hit 5025-5050mhz. No clue what's causing it to act this way.

Ya, never really got a great answer other than swapping the chip. Maybe it was just a crap bin because the second one works as expected.
