ROG CROSSHAIR X670E EXTREME need assistance or advice in buying the correct DDR5

Greetings,

I have just purchased the Crosshair X670E Extreme, The Strix RTX 4090 OC , Thor 1200 , GR701 Case, Ryujin iii 360 newest gen 8 one, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D .  I have not purchased the DDR5 for the mother board the ASUS support page is not very forth with  or forth coming  regarding information wise for the compatible DDR5 memory modules.  I saw on the top of the list The Corsair Dominator CMT32GX5M2X6400C38  which is this product DOMINATOR® PLATINUM RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 DRAM 6400MHz C38 Memory Kit — Black

I Can not find it any where online that it is for AMD platform  even though it is listed on ASUS Support page link below.

Then I came across this 64GB on the Corsair site  CMT64GX5M2B6400C32  which is this productDOMINATOR® PLATINUM RGB 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 DRAM 6400MHz C32 Memory Kit — Black

Since I have Corsair Keyboard, Mouse, Mouse pad, Headset, headset stand that is all RGB I would like to stay with Corsair DDR5 Ram for ease of RGB integration , That being said I am not sure as to what setup of ram to get or better yet speeds 6000, 6200, or 6400MHZ

Also the  Corsair CMT32GX5M2X6400C38 is listed as compatible  on the support page but is it the correct DDR5 Ram for AMD R9 7950X3D ?

Do I use 2 modules of the CMT32GX5M2X6400C38 to total 32GB ?

Or do I use only 2 of the CMT64GX5M2B6400C32 for 64 GB ?

Or do I use the 4 module kit for 64 GB?  CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM RGB DDR5 RAM 64GB (4x16GB) 6400MHz CL32  - Black (CMT64GX5M4B6400C32)

I will over clock lightly when gaming, but will majority of the time be at stock settings of doing drafting of furniture and cabinet design work for my woodworking shop.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post aka questions and for any insight as it has been almost 7 years since I built a system for myself. The last one is starting to give up the ghost as it is on 24/7,  365  Technology has sure jumped forward very fast my Z270 ASUS ROG Maximus Formula IX is tired and begging to be replaced. As soon as I can figure out the Ram I can purchase my last component and get to building.

You are correct. The SoC shown in the CPU section and ZenTimings is actually lower than 1.2V. I was confused with the measurement made by the motherboard in HW Info. That one is shown in the BIOS as well. So I guess we ignore the value measured by the board and focus on the CPU CDDR_SOC?

Hello,

Yes, the Strix uses socket sense measurement, so the SIO reading [SOC] is less accurate. You can see there that CPU CDDR_SOC which is the on-die telemetry (as close as one can possibly get) is much closer to the set voltage.

Thanks. Makes more sense to me now. Cheers.

Thank you for the reference. I get a redirected as I live on the West Coast of the United States. I saw those QVL modules on page 2  of the link below.  https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-x670e-extreme-model/helpdesk_qvl_memor...    There is no reference to a Corsair DDR5 Module at 6200MHz just the 6000MHz and the 6400MHz at the 6400MHz there is the Vengeance ( CMK32GX5M2X6400C38) and the Dominator ( CMT32GX5M2X6400C38) both are only listed in the QVL as 16GB x 2. All the ^00Mhz are listed as 16GBx2

What if any would be the issue of using 32GB x2 6400MHz verse the 32GB x 2 6000MHz. I just want a stable system that I can game hard on when not designing for my shop . Thanks

I tend to recommend opting for a kit below maximum validation to ensure the best chance of "plug and play". As 32GB modules will be harder on the IMC, I would opt for the 6000MHz kit. 6400MHz may require a fairly good CPU.

Thanks for the links. This adventure in to personal custom pc build is stressful getting all the compatible components to together. Technology has changed so much I feel like a dinosaur.

It doesn't take long to feel antiquated, this stuff moves quickly 🙂👍

Best of luck and let us know how you get on.

I ended up purchasing Corsair Dominator DDR5 6000MHz SKU # CMT64GX5M2B6000Z40. Tech specs say it is EXPO compatible and designed for AMD. I might lose a little speed being 32GB Modules but I get the 64GB in 2 at 32GB vs 4 at 16GB. For a mother board that can take up to 128GB it seems that there is an issue with having more than 2 modules. I really wanted to go 6400MHz

For most CPUs 6000MT with 4 DIMMs is going to be too much. Most especially with modules over 16gb.

Tuning some of the drive strength / termination values can sometimes help, but stability may still be conditional.
